You can buy a CZ used for $300 these days, not a bad deal. About $350 including usb cable and software. Be careful with the used units, anything older than group buy #2, will likely need to be updated for the coil fix, idle fix, etc. If you want Canzoomer to do the update, it'll run around $60.
I just bought a brand new never used CZ from someone for $290. I paid $120 for a brand new canscan (dharrison unit), and $80 for the programming cable and greddy emanage software. These prices all include shipping.

I wasn't going to post anything about gas mileage until I had about 3 tanks like people said. But since ya'll wanna know I used to get about 19 on mostly freeway and about 17.5 if it was half and half. The first tank i had while getting used to the clutch (as dave experianced) and having some fun I got 18. Which is really good. Because I never get 20. Even if I drive it like a slowass civic it will not get 20. On this second tank I'm just below the 1/4 mark and I'm at 235 miles. So this tank looks really good. Usually my last quarter tank I get about 70 miles and if I hit that 300 mark I'll go crazy. That's like 23 mpg. And I am driving it harder than my best tanks b4 the port.
Along the lines of the ECU which I wanna do next. My question is that is the emanage any more difficult to use than the CZ? And will the dealership freak if they see the emanage? Because if I can just yoink the CZ off really easy and the emanage I can't, than I would like to go CZ. Just because I don't want to give them a reason to screw me over. They want to they just need proof and that is proof. But from what I hear they can do everything exactly the same as each other. Just the CZ comes with maps. Which doesn't matter.
P.S. I have like 170 posts and I think 150 of them are in here.

Snoochie, Your dealership may not freak out about the CZ/emanage, but if you have engine problems they may void your warrentee because of it. However since you just had your engine ported, that may be a moot point.
Since CZ is e-manage, they are exactly the same to tweak.
guitar, far as I know, Canzoomer resales Dharrison's Canscan hardware, so it's somewhat similar to the situation with CZ/emanage.

Maybe now you're driving more appropriately. Best gas mileage doesnt come from staying below 3750 in all gears. It comes from getting power going in the low gears and then cruising in the higher gears. I dunno. I regularly get 20-22 on highway and 18-20 mixed driving so I've come to expect that.
Who knows. Keep track for a month or so and let us all know.

prob with cz leaning your fuel is it only leans it in 5000+ rpms. So unless you cruise over that in open loop, your fuel usage isn't going to be effected to any noticable degree.
You wouldn't want to lean it under 5k rpm anyway since the ecu keeps it close to 14.7

Didn't know that about the leaning issue Jason thanks. Also I just had to drive my gf to lax today and filled up b4 I went. Ended up getting 19.7 on the last tank. I know honestly can't I just get 20. Anyways there was hardly any traffic going out there but some on the way back but overall cruising speed. I'm a little under halfway and I'm at 186 miles. But my gauge likes to get stuck here but overall it is hella good mileage.

Yes it has improved a lot. I never saw mileage like this b4, even when I babied it. And now I'm driving it harder and getting better mileage. I've also managed to put it over 800 miles now so it's basically worn in. If people want a raw increase I would have to say it has gone up about 3mpg. The way I'm freely letting it rev I should be at 17. I'm way on track for 20 now.
Did you wanna do the emanage dave? Sounds like a go ahead. Have you worked with those before. I think they're pretty new so I doubt it but with you I never know. If not I was reading a mag at b&n for like 2 hours and eventually bought it and it has a little description of it's workings. Sounds really simplistic.
Here are the only places I've found the emanage:
http://store1.vividracing.com/catalo...roducts_id=405
http://www.modacar.com/products/Mazda/RX8/MODAECT
http://www.racingworks.com/greddy_emanage.htm
The vividracing has info and the racingworks has pricing that is split up. I'm not sure what really should come with it. You all can figure that stuff out. I tried researching

yes, cutting the wires isn't something most of us would want. Also, it's the most widely used piggyback here, which means a lot of available help and information that wouldn't otherwise be available.
If you bought the e-manage, you can still follow that page when you tune.

WOW where the hell have I been......
Junkie I was really pissed to hear about your stolen car... so after reading the first 38 pages of this i took about an hour to look for your car thorough various channels. I should have more for you tomorrow, but so far i have 2 possibilities.
Sent you an IM
Lots of great stuff in this thread, I would def go with CZ over Emanage just because you don't have to splice the wires, and CZ can be removed in 5mins for dealer service. Considered the RicShaw unit as well I've heard good things but it may be a grass is greener on the other side thing. (Hymme?)

i've never done an emanage before....
thenagain, i didn't even really know what a haltech was when i bought that either and i wired it up and fired the motor on the first shot. in fact, the only problem i had with that first haltech install was figuring out the com port settings on the laptop to get it to talk to the haltech.
i don't think an emanage will be a problem. but i'm sure someone in so. cal has one-maybe we could talk someone into coming up and giving us a hand to make it go by faster?

Man no one listens to me... there is a harness kit available that you can use so that you won't have to splice the wires on the stock stuff. You just plug it in between the ECU and stock connectors and splice your emanage or Ric Shaw into those wires.

But if i had to choose E-M or CZ, I would use that canzoomer unit anyway since at least the groundwork is done in the E-Manage software program. But frankly I'm not a fan of the E-M for various reasons, some people love it tho so its all up to you, cRICouSHgAWh.

I went to rotary performance's website and they didn't have any info up.
Also the ric shaw is 1,166.94 usd. And that is a lot of money. Plus what makes it better than the cz?
