Would it be possible to buy a used Greddy kit just for the plumbing and go direct to a better turbo, like say a GT2871R? You could then sell the Greddy-supplied snail and make a few bucks back, and probably get a decent setup for relatively cheap.

Yes and yes. If you want to make more power than the GReddy snail, which is why you would upgrade it in the first place.

If you are looking for 300+ whp, with room to grow. That is NOT the Greddy kit. Even in going with the standard kit, if you want it to be pretty reliable you are talking about the cost of the kit, & IMO swapping out the Emanage junk, upgrading the injectors (past 300 whp), upgrading the couplers, getting the BOV, etc., etc. Given a choice if I had to do it over again I would have RAN from the Greddy kit. To many much better choices out there now. When all is said & done the $8K for Mazsport's kit would have seemed cheap in comparison to the mental anguish of dealing with Greddy.
