GReddy turbo on Japanese JDM rx8

i have been offered a GReddy turbo installation at a verrry tempting price and so i have spent the last two days reading the threads on the kit, its fixes and the emanage setting etc.

awsome reading and very very helpful. i cant think of any other forums i have used that would actively try to assist others by developing and uploading maps for other users without wanting something in return.

but i now have a couple of quick questions that i couldnt find answered in the threads or by searching.

1. do all of the fixes and mapping work with Jap spec cars - has anyone on here tried it on one?

2. the Cobb access port. is there a way to get it to work with the Jap ecu or is there a revised model coming out that i could use. it seems to offer more than the GReddy Emange.

many thanks in advance.

martin..

Just fitted greddy kit to my JDM8 - had a few issues with clearance on the streering linkages but otherwise all good . Using Hymee Pro tuner with great success .

thanks guys.

so apart from the issues with the steering clearance, theres no other issues. using MM's mapping etc?

as the jdm already makes 250hp at the crank, maybe a bit more now i have removed the cat, i am trying to decide if the extra 70whp or so is worth the outlay. i am a power junky at heart but i must be getting old because i have this weird feeling of trying to keep the car as a daily driver and not as a fragile weekend toy. been there and done that with fireblades, sti's and cosworths.

sorry but your JDM makes no more than any other 6port 8 , about 215-220 at the crank - dyno proven right here on this forum .

And yes the extra power makes a huge difference .

so assuming i get about 100bhp extra at the crank, then it looks like it'll work out at $25 per bhp gained..

and to think, i only went into the shop to have a mid pipe made and now i am on the verge of spending $2500 in an attempt to regain some interest in my 8.

Hey,
I live in Cyprus as well (Nicosia).
I am in the new engine club. Though i am about to go FI.
Have you got any quotes for the Greddy kit installed and tuned?
2 years before i was interested the price i got fitted/tuned was 3000CYP (abt 6500USD).
One thing in my opinion you MUST do before go FI is to Dyno your car before operation :P and after operation.
I am thinking seriously to import the kit from the US and have a mechanic do the installation and another do the emanage tuning.

i am waiting to get on the dyno to see how much mine makes with the de-cat and induction kit before i commit to having the turbo conversion done.

Hey guys I no this is an old thread but Im in Cyprus atm on holidays and everyone is saying you can find cheap Greddy turbo kits just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of were to go as I would like to see how cheap I can find parts here to take home with me.

If I can find one for 1200 euros as well that would be awesome
