I think it is because Mazda did such a crappy job at the air/fuel maps. The emanage is programmed to be optimal compared to super rich stock... just my 2 cents

Philodox...then, IF you are right...what is up with Mazda???? How do you get another 5-6mpg from adding a turbo and getting a better a/f ratio????

This is VERY interesting to me...heck, maybe us stock 8 owners should get a greddy ECU or something so we can pump our fuel economy by 4-6mpg.

Am I the only one who is amazed at this?

I think it mostly has to do with the fact that I have to keep the RPM's down while I'm driving now so I can stay out of boost. Before the turbo I would keep the RPM's around 4500-5000 just so I stayed in the meaty part of the power band. Now I keep them around 3000.

Hehe.. so it may not be actively giving me better MPG, but passive I can't complain though!

Watch out that your afr is not to lean? How are you measuring your egt and afr? I would like to know how close to the edge the Greddy Emanage and turbo are tuned. I could see your milage increasing if your afr`s are much leaner which is not really a good thing with a turbo.
