You need to do some reading.

Even the kits require a significant amount of DIY, to the point where you're pretty close to rolling your own. Pretty much every successfully turbo'd RX-8 that's still running likely has a lot of DIY work in it.
Also, you really need to do some more reading; that kit is for RX-8's with an REW swap.

FD RX-7 utilizes a sequential twin-turbocharger system from the factory.
Basically, a smaller turbo will take care of the low-end since it will be more responsive(easier to spool up, less lag), while a bigger turbo will take care of anything above 5k RPM to give you steady power until redline.
It's a very impressive system... in the 90s. It's also very complex(have fun tracking down a broken vacuum hose). Nowadays, a good twin-scroll single turbo will outperform the factory system in nearly every way, and that's what some FD owners switch to now.

it was a joke. yes many here have done their own diy turbos in various ways but none started with anything from ebay. theres top, low, rear mount custom turbo set ups if you search through some threads

not flaming you but you are asking noob questions that flooded this site since 2004. forced induction is not cheap on any car and more so on an rx8. if you are looking at $160 snail off fleabay its likely you will never have a turbo 8 or at least one that works right if at all. please do some research

The FD guy I talked to said a good turbo should be at least a grand or two, usually more.
But yeah, I wouldn't trust a $160 turbo. Even before the discount, $300 is still pretty sketchy and can turn your "Zoom-Zoom" into "Boom-Boom."

i expected those answers and was hoping the technology improved since 04. My interest is really in the petite supercharger or something like it. I dont really need a lot of psi. Just a little more hp.

theres used pettit kits f/s on this site right now for about 5k. still requires other mods and tuning. to go f/i properly expect to spend ~10k and thats if your engine is healthy

Read the forced induction for dummies thread. It's a sticky. Need to listen to these guys too. A lot of them know what they are talking about. I thought it would be more simple then what it is. I will get to FI but it's not cheap or from what I have read easy to do right. Best of luck to you if it's what you are really going to do.

What if I got a good manifold, inter cooler, wastegate, and controller setup with a cheap but reliable turbo charger? I don't need a bunch of hp. Just a little safely is good for me.
Nitrous may be an option but a turbo seems more fun. I never go WOT though so that would be new, ha!

Turbo is gonna be a lot of money no matter how you slice it. You can get turbos, intercoolers with better value, but even then it still wouldn't be cheap from what I have been told by the FD guy I talked to.
If you want to go turbo, then you are better off adding a lot of power because that will have a better value(HP per money spent).
