Highest Horsepower dynos for SC Turbo and nitrous - post them here
#227
Nope not running meth but to be fair I was not really concerned about that as it was quite cold .Also, I have done tests on the road which show a charge air temp increase of around 15C - not that much of a concern when ambient temps never go over about 30C here.
I don't think it would stop at the intercooler . My ignition system is tapped out , the exhaust is probably becoming a restriction as well as are my injectors .
So I really need to spend a couple thousand dollars to get that extra 17whp.
Not going to happen till mywife gets her new fence

To put it more precisely - boost tune . Especially at the top end . Chicken should definately be able to make more power at the top end with his better suppoprting mods .
At the bottom end it is a a little more interesting . Two turbos with similar flow charts yet mine makes a lot more torque down low . I have a couple of theories on this :
*His "set gain" on his boost controller was set too low
*My turbine design is more restrictive and therefore more efficient at low rpm .
*Could also be the way the dyno operator did the run . IE i think he may have loaded up the dyno whuile at 2000rpm for a few seconds before letting it go which would allow the turbo to build more boost than you would normally see at that rpm.

So you think a power curve that has huge torque over a very narrow band is better than higher average torque over a wide power band ? Better put a diesel in your next car .
Edit - I think I misinterpreted your comment . You meant that you could only answer my question if you saw comparitive torque curves , correct?

Brettus you have the BHR hybrid turbo (water cooled) to get that number? Wow that Tq is crazy! Highest I've ever seen! So if no meth than what upgrades to the coolant side? BHR Radiatior, water pump, fan switch?

Yea thats what I meant to say! Sorry and nice numbers! I know we all go back and forth with this and that but thats how the Rx8 has gone from so little to so much. I don't post as many times as others to save space for those that have something really good to add. Keep it up.

Kane helped chickenwafer get some really good numbers and is on his way to the NE to help JCab in the same fashion. Expect some more impressive numbers with the BNR Upgrade. I think this is in the next couple weeks.

Brettus, can you tell me the *exact* specifications on that turbo you're using? Compressor wheel minor/major, compressor housing inlet and A/R, small shaft or big shaft, T3, T3/T4, or full T4, as well as turbine wheel minor/major and turbine housing trim and A/R?

Oh, so it's one of the original GReddy turbos with an upgrade? Let me ask you this: how accessible is the compressor housing and the 1/2" (13mm) bolts holding it on? Is it possible to get a dial caliper on the compressor wheel with the housing removed?

I may be able to get a caliper on the housing bore diameter (but not the wheel) just by taking the discharge tube off . The bore is approx. 58mm. I got this from scaling a photo i have of it so not that accurate.

Ok. Got a picture of the compressor without the steel inlet duct tube on it by chance? You may be right about it being a type of TO4E. Those have been used as upgrade compressors for a long time and have been popular. Still, I'd like to know the specs.
