HKS Supercharger ... Where is it???

Does anybody have any new info on this kit? There have been pics posted and magazine articles regarding it, but not much info. It's supposedly the Rotrex system they used on the 350Z. I remember someone telling me it would be out this summer in Japan. Just wondering about this kit because this SC kit gave the 350Z some serious grunt. It "should" do the same for the 8. Hopefully. I know HKS produces some quality stuff. Pricey too but you get what you pay for.

Good question. I would think it would be available given that PTP has reported success using the F-Con with their kit. So the PCM issues should be non-existent for them.

what's so special with a rotrex s/c compared to a vortech?

From HKS site:

The HKS Rotrex Supercharger Kits are the latest in forced induction systems for the aftermarket. The centrifugal type supercharger features a unique traction drive, with a closed oil circulation system. The traction drive utilizes fixed ratio planetary rollers that are more efficient then traditional gear-wheels. Because the planetary rollers do not have teeth like traditional gear-wheels noise is decreased and reliability is increased. The closed oil circulation system cycles a specially-formulated Traction Oil that lubricates and cools the supercharger, dramatically increasing longevity and reliability. The Traction Oil is cooled through a liquid to air oil cooler included with each kit.

All HKS Rotrex Supercharger Kits are developed as complete bolt-on systems. For certain applications HKS will include a front-mount air-to-air intercooler, Super Mega Flow intake, Bypass Valve, additional injectors, upgraded fuel pump and S/C Fuel Computer. Also included with each kit is a high-performance cast aluminum bracket which has been precisely engineered to reduce noise and vibration.

******

As far as Vortech is concerned they don't have a SC kit in development for the 8. They do make good kits though. And cheaper too.

the kit is still up in the air. Hks is still deciding whether they want to release the supercharger or go the turbo route. Knight sports actually got their hands on the "rotrex supercharger and bracket" only from hks but only made about 250+ps. They were using their own piping intercooler and ems. When hks dynoed theirs they were making about 30-35 more ps than the knight sports kit primarily becuase they went with the fcon vpro. Didn't know that leg motorsports had one too, looks very close to the hks test mule.

So HKS is putting down 280ps with there SC. Interesting. I'm sure they can get a realible 300+ easily. Then again, the Renesis' computer aint exactly cooperative. The kits probably going to cost an arm an a leg though. Good quality stuff, but man is it pricey.

Keep in mind it will be very similarly priced to the 350z Unit which MSRPs at 7295, retails at 6000ish, and not to mention the power output will more then likely be no higher then the greddy kit.

No I think it will be the 280 that was claimed. HKS has the f-con wich is better then the emanage, is it not.

PS (hp DIN) to Bhp -> Multiply by 0.9863

280 PS = 276 HP

Yes i believe it was PS not WHP. Although 280 WHP would be very nice. I dont really think its unreasonable either

I think its a MT but a AT is in the works. He said the AT and MT pricing along with info will be released at the Toyko Auto show but that they still dont know if they will produce the 2 or not. The problem is people dont want to pay the price for the product. They all want discount after discount. I told him to check out www.rx8club.com and see for your self that there is a high demand for Turbo and SC product's. He said ok then gave me his business card. BTY that car has a nice wide-body! When I find my pic's I'll post them.

anyone like to suggest which rotrex supercharger is used? HKS remanufacture the impeller cover and they probably can change the impellers as well, so it might not be a straight rotrex model.

The switching is on the blitz unit. it's the same as the toyota SC with a beefed up aircon clutch.
