Not a bad attempt at humor.

Not all that good either. :p Hahahaha

Cheers,
Hymee.

IYHO :p

Gomez 02-24-2005 07:56 PM

Hymee, don't blame me for the rum fetish that thecrankyoldbastard has developed!!!!.....There's a thread about somewhere where he mentioned you like rum and I agreed 'cos I remembered a few of your old Aussie Lounge posts about it.

Now the oldmongrel's insinuating I said you're a bleedin' alcoholic  . Bloody Hell, lay off the red cordial Richard!!! :p

Maybe he's read something into the fact you sign off every post with the word "Cheers", Hymee!! ;)

Cheers,
Gomez. :D

Hymee 02-24-2005 11:04 PM

I mentioned something about it in a email relating to my pending trip to the US.

He actually likes a bloody mary for a lunch time drink.

Kind Regards,
Mr. Hymee.

Hymee, I hate to break it to you but this progam will probably add weight. BUT if your enjoying it, I'm all for you.

Cheers

I heard that Hymee is on a seafood type of diet  he sees the food then eats it ;)

cheers

Richard Paul 02-24-2005 11:54 PM

Kind Regards,>>>>> I don't even rate a "Cheers" anymore??

Mr. Hymee.[/QUOTE]>>>>>>>>Mr. Hymee?? Where did the MR come from?

Boy, a freindship is a soft thing in Australia. Tell a small tale about a guy and you are persona nongratius. And it is true, call the Rum Place and ask for the VIP room, odds are Hymee will answer the phone.

And when you do get here it's your turn to buy.

There is a guy from Newfoundland who is ordering a shifter. Should I see if he wants to trade some Newfy Screech? Know what that is?

Hymee 02-25-2005 01:15 AM

I thought the "Cheers" thing was making me out to be an alcoholic, so I changed it. Oh well, you can't please em all.

Yeah - I know it is my turn next time. And I'm gunna be there for longer as well

No clue on what Newfy Screech is. And although Bundy Rum is the nectar of the gods, I don't drink much. When I'm stateside I'm more than happy to substitute for some Linchburg Whiskey courtesy of Mr. Daniels.

Now, lets gets my thread back on topic...

Cheers,
Hymee

Richard Paul 02-25-2005 07:22 PM

I'll tell you anyway. Screech is the local bootleg hooch. Originally it was from the bottom of the rum barrels. Had something to do with the pirates. I never really got it straight. But I did drink some when I was there. They put a big bowl of Coke-Cola then then added about half gallon of screech to make something like rum and coke. I can't tell you in a public forum what happened to the hotel by morning.

Remember this was an after race party on Sunday night, when no one left the city because there are only two flights a day out of there. This is the only time I ever saw all the owners, drivers, sponsors and crew all in lock down together after a race. Most of the people usually leave by Sunday night.

This was a unique party. Don't know how much the screech had to do with it.
You can't blame me for anything I was on crutches.

Ok Hymee, here's a question for your thread, since I asked my last question in the "wrong" (Pettit) thread I guess. :o ;)

Lets say we have a turbo kit putting out 240 WHP, and another SUPERcharger putting out 220 WHP. But the SC makes more power earlier and more consistantly. Which kit will give better performance from a 1/4 mile standpoint?

Hymee 03-01-2005 11:51 PM

It depends on the compressor design I guess, and the RPM range over which you are running the engine during the pass. Plus a whole host of other variables, just to confuse the issue even more.

Theoretically...

A centifugal S/C boost is proportional to the square of the blower speed. So at 1/2 RPM you make 1/4 boost.

An axial flow makes linear boost. So at 1/2 RPM it makes about 1/2 boost.

And a PD makes constant boost, so at 1/2 RPM it is still on "full boost".

But then you must ask over what RPM range is the engine running between gears, and does it matter that it makes less boost at 4,000 RPM when you change and the RPM only drops to 7,000 anyway? I think the longer, flatter, fatter boost curve introduces more drivability.

Regarding power and the 1/4 mile run, an old addage is that the MPH trap speed is more of an indication of the power made, than the ET.

And then I guess you also get to driver ability :)

Lots of fun theorising over it. Better to test it out on the black stuff I guess.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Richard Paul 03-02-2005 12:50 AM

I just fell into that same trick question, Hymee. That sneeky Omicron timed it just right so we didn't see each others posts. Well right makes might because we both answered it very closely. You are too polite to point out you think it is a trick question though, I call it. ;)

Lock & Load 03-02-2005 03:02 AM

The question was more double edged than tricky ;) but glad it was asked .

Driver ability and the car that has a more linear power delivery earlier with no lag at a given rpm .

Any way we wont have our cars doing 240whp or 220whp unless these guys get back to ..................................... WORK :D

cheers
michael

Every time I read this thread, I can't help thinking of Hymee as Mad Max

Sorry RP, I meant to post it here and stuck it in your thread by accident. I guess by the time I got it moved to Hymee's thread you had already responded. Damn you're quick! :D

Omicron 03-02-2005 10:27 AM

Ok, clarification and follow-on question...

The reason I ask this is that I want it clear to people (like me) who are FI shopping that a higher WHP number of a turbo (like the Greddy) doesn't necessarilly mean the kit will yield a faster car than one with a slightly lower WHP supercharger... kinda like clock speed of a CPU doesn't automatically mean that's the fastest computer available.

For instance, I believe the Greddy kit putting out 240 WHP may be evenly matched with the only SC available right now, the Pettit 220 WHP. Greddy = Higher peak HP, Pettit = lower peak but comes on earlier and more (or equivilent) area under the HP curve.

So let me restate the question: 2 identical cars, same weight, same conditions, and cloned drivers with same skill, shifting at same optimal shift points, etc. Which car will win? :D

Hymee 03-02-2005 02:35 PM

I would suggest it would be the one with the most area under the power curve.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Good to know I'm not the only one. :D

Richard Paul 03-02-2005 03:05 PM

Have you ever been out drinking with him?? ;)

guy321 03-02-2005 03:09 PM

Tell us some drunken Hymee stories!

Richard Paul 03-02-2005 03:22 PM

You have to ask Gomez

Hymee 03-05-2005 07:15 PM

An update of sorts...

Due to "customer cars" who pay the "big bills" having priority for the Compak Attack this month, we won't have time to get the S/C rensesis into Phils test car for that meet. http://www.hymee.com/smilies/sm_bawling.gif It would be detrimental to both projects to rush them both. So I guess you can rationalise that is better to get one done properly.

A two week break after some circuit racing cars and some drag racing is done, should give Phil some quality time to get this finally up and running. He has made a commitment to have it tested by the end of April.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Rotoman 03-21-2005 10:39 PM

Hey Hymee, Are you still on schedule for an April testing of your SC... And hows the making of the Aluminum intake manifold coming...I know it hasn't been ling since I PM you but just thought I ask...

zoom44 03-28-2005 03:55 PM

hey Hymee-

there havent been any new pics since page 23!;) got any to share?:D

Hymee 03-28-2005 04:11 PM

Hehehe :D Your being the S/C agitator at the moment ;) :) :D

As soon as I get some more...

Cheers,
Hymee.

zoom44 03-28-2005 04:12 PM
