Hey Hymee..
What are you doing with regards to the ECU??

Hymee 07-21-2005 05:47 AM

Update...

The Renesis engine with the blower mounted on it has been installed in the "test mule" car. I didn't have my camera with me, though :(, so no pics today. Maybe tomorrow.

It will be managed by a Motec in the mule, and will be initially tuned on the chassis dyno to see what sort of numbers it can make turning the wheels. That will be a good comparison, cause we already have a baseline for this particular engine in this particular car.

Hopefully it won't be long now till we get the wheels turning, and have some numbers. Then some times :) Then some more work on packaging etc, and have one in an RX-8. Woohoo!

Cheers,
Hymee.

sorry had to do it.

go guys go.

Gees Hymee,

At this rate it looks as though your going to be the first to release a Supercharger!

C'mon Aussies c'mon, c'mon

Go Aussies Go! OY! OY! OY!

Hymee,

Those Laminova heat exchangers you are using, are they going to be located within the inlet tract with an external radiator? or just mounted externally? The reason I ask is I am trying to work out how to use them on my C32 in place of the current external intercooler.

As heatsoak seems to be the biggest problem giving inconsistent performance.

Hymee,

I have attached a diagram of the Intercooler setup on the C32 AMG. Sorry it is written in German though.

If you can point me in any direction I would be very gratefull. It may even help out your design for the RX-8.

What the???

The date of the posts I made showing the PWR and Harrop setups was July?

Cheers,
Hymee.

zoom44 07-22-2005 10:30 AM

im saying you took those pics in may and have been holding out on us- if you were that far along in may you must be much furthur along now!! you've been holding back on us- like scotty you not telling us how much time it actually takes to get something done;)

Hymee 07-22-2005 03:52 PM

I didn't take the pics of the PWR and Harrop S/C, they are from another site.

BTW - How is the review of the sCANalyser coming along for RX-Tuner magazine? http://www.hymee.com/smilies/sm_poke.gif

Cheers,
Hymee.

um well um well my informant was wrong then. review yes review i have all the notes an screen shots etc should sit down and write shouldnt i. have i mentined my 8 month old son- takes alot of time.then there is this recall to deal with and the fact that im really a bloodylazybastard and a easilydistractedbyotherstoriesbastard.

sorry ill get that in line as the next i do. should anyway since other things are waiting on email replies from people who take an awfully long time to reply.

Updates? Pics?

I'm waiting for my warranty to expire before I go FI, so i'm very interested in seeing what comes of this project. I know that there is more potential hp using a turbo with our cars, but I love the instantaneous pull of a supercharged vehicle. The (correct me if i'm wrong) supercharger will also be more reliable than say a Greddy, because it's designed to run all the time.

JoeB 08-01-2005 03:23 AM

Hymee's Supercharger system is being designed to work on demand ie; part throttle = high manifold vacuum = no boost, so as either throttle position increases or engine load increases, manifold vacuum drops and the supercharger will provide boost accordingly. I greatly favour this design as it will definetely aid in longevity of our motors and also overcome excessive fuel consumption and provide excellent driveabilty depending on your mood of driving.

The same way as a KOMPRESSOR works except that it uses an electro-magnetic clutch, just like your air conditioning compressor does. Hymee's supercharger will be constantly driven but a vacuum controlled valve will waste unwanted boost untill it is required.

Hymee, hope you don't mind me butting in here? ; :o

I just can't help myself since I have the Supercharged AMG! :p

Joe ;)

I believe Mercedes deleted the clutch actuation on later models with the in-line 4 engines as a reduction in complexity and costs.
Might still be clutch actuated on AMG and/or V engines though.

AMG and V engines still have electro-magnetic clutch and air/water intercooler system. Inline 4's only have 6 pound boost and air/air intercoolers.

The only thing I would foresee as a -ve on a clutched in S/C might be the inertia hit when the clutch engages and the S/C must be spun up. But I have not experienced it, and JoeB has.

I'd say there might be a slight increase in consumption in the vacuum operated design, even "off boost" as the engine still is spinning the compressor. But it would not be doing much work, so the increase I hope will only be marginal. The benefit should be that the S/C is already spinning, and the boost is there waiting for the bypass valve to close. Time will tell!

But we are putting these things on for more power, right? If I really want to play with fuel economy, I might look at Hymee Enhancing a Prius ;)

No clutch, thanks. On the early I4 Kompressor engines, the clutch would only disconnect the Eaton S/C under 2000 rpm at all loads for very low speed driving (traffic jams and idle). Above that engine speed, it would be on all the time, if I remember correctly.

By the way, I still have two used (in excellet condition) Eaton Kompressors for Mercs in my garage, if someone is interested.

You can keep both of them Fabrice. :( They are toy superchargers for toy engines. Now when you have two Lysholm screw-type superchargers with electromagnetic clutch's in your garage, please let me know! ;)

John,

Love the avatar!

I hope to have some more to post next week.

SUPER ! Your SC looks REALLY awsome.
I reseached Felix W. Last week, that guy had quite a life. Some increadible ideas start out with just a "Napkin idea"...
