wow, that looks really nice.

I hear you are giving 90% discounts to people with the yellows as we are clearly in need of superchargers...

EZZY 09-17-2005 04:26 AM

looks good!
cant wait for the review :)

i think you should buy your mechanic some heavy duty hand cream :D

rxeightr 09-17-2005 06:12 AM

WOW! I'm gone a couple of days, and I have this waiting for me when I return.

Now this was worth getting up early to see. Hymee, is it safe to assume you are using your dyno time for elementary tuning?

I never would have thought the stock airbox & engine cover would have fit.

You just continue to impress the hell out of us.

Aoshi Shinomori 09-17-2005 11:52 AM

That looks awesome! :D The wait was worth it, totally. Get some rest yabastard.

salituro64 09-17-2005 02:36 PM

Hymee, are you using a modified exhaust for testing or just the Hymee Cat-Back?

Yeah, there was. But as fate would have it, we were in the workshop all day ;)

Just getting ready to head off the to Jamboree.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hymee 09-17-2005 02:59 PM

Oh - y'all wan to know how it goes :)

Well - it starts like stock. Idles like a kitten. Cruises like normal.

But ask something of her... Blower Whine :D:D:D:D:D
What more can I say.
Sweet blower whine.

It has only had the 5 laps of Newstead tune, enough to allow it to be driven. Pretty impressive from the guru considering we yet again start with a blank peice of paper in terms of a tune-up. (Motec calibration).

Cheers,
Hymee.

truemagellen 09-17-2005 03:07 PM

Nice job, hymee.
Good to hear it runs so well.
I can't wait to see the numbers!
How much boost do you have it running right now anyway?

Hi guys!

(Sorry if I sound a little flat. It has been a great blast the last 60 hours. But I am really drained now. Just got enough in the tank to report in.)

It is mightily impressive than 12 hours after this beast first turned a supercharged wheel that it was actually on display at a fairly major motorsport event. Even better that it was driven there under it's own power.

I can't speak highly enough of Phil. Thanks mate.

The car had its second road tune this morning. This was the "Bray Park to Willowbank" tune. About 100 km straight tuning.

Today was really great. My car was on display in a large marquee with 3 other cars that were competing. My gratidude to Theo from Theo Woolett Racing for his hospitality in giving me a bay, keeping me watered and a nice BBQ lunch. The car generate a lot of interest, sitting there with the bonnet open and looking like a stocker. But then there was this big "Supercharged RX-8" banner :D

My mind is spinning with stuff to write about, but I am just plain tired.

The car drives well. Definately more torque. The blower doesn't whine unless you go into boost.

But when it does go into boost, it is instant :D

I should video the boost "gauge". Even when it is idling, and you crack open the trottle, you can see the silicon joiner hose expand like a balloon. And it happens when you open the throttle, not after you have waited for RPM to increase, or a turbine to spin up. Instant boost!

Anyway, I feeling way too tired to give this justice. Hopefully sco can/has put up some pictures of today.

Cheers,
Hymee.

rxeightr 09-18-2005 06:56 AM

Thanks for checking in -- look forward to the pics.
Instant boost sounds perfect, along with much more torque & blower whine.

You sure know how to speak my language.

Everyone,

Here are a few pictures from today. Some more words to follow.

Hopefully this sign gets your attention...

Side view... and possibly a Hymee lookalike observing a shiny red RX-8 with some cool stickers and a maybe a suprise or two under its hood.

Stock... or maybe not?

Finally a huge thanks to Theo from me too :) ... was an awesome day and we were really looked after... thanks heaps mate! Here's a nice shot of Theo's car... that 9.80 was from his previous run... dialed in a 9.80 and ran a 9.80... can't get much better than that! :D

I had the pleasure yesterday of spending a day at the workshop while the guys worked on the car... doing what I could to help... making coffee, nipping out for the odd part, Flurrie or two, mopping the floor and doing a bit of work on the new website as well a bit of prep for today while the guys beavered away.

I've had many discussions with Hymee about the supercharger but hadn't really seen him and GTP at work before. It was pretty obvious a lot of thought has gone into this so far and there is plenty of talent on tap. Hymee bows to GTP a fair bit in his posts, but it's well and truly a team effort when you listen to the conversations about what's being done. Watching GTP start with a blank sheet then weave some magic in the MoTeC software, back her out of the garage then do a few laps of the block was awesome. Seeing the smiles on faces when she fired up for the first time after many hours of work was my highlight for the day.

To top the day off I got to enjoy a few laps around the streets near the workshop as Phil weaved more magic... and as inaccurate as butt dynos are... I could definitely feel a big improvement even with limited amount of tuning that had been done at that point in time. Didn't get a run today (drove my own car to/from the meet).. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Hymee and GTP... enjoy your rest... you've earnt it.

Great news, great pics, great stories...

Hymee, sco, Phil and all the team -- congratulations! The beast is alive and well. Of course, too much information and pics at this stage would not be enough, so we can't wait to see it in action at the Nats...and the other surprise, too ;)

Revolver 09-18-2005 07:27 PM

Congrats to all involved - well done! :)

Look forward to meeting you and the car(s??) at the Nats! ;)
