Sir Mr. Hymee --
Since my relocation to your fine city, I'd consider it my privilege to assist, like turning on motors & handing wrenches just to feel the air boost blowing through my hair.

Make us all proud at SSX, and like the rest look quite forward to the press release.

This is awesome history in the making.....

Part 1 is not actually about an automotive supercharger, but it still makes for an interesting read. You could say I'm closer to this "supercharger" than most, and not many can claim to have a supercharger due to doctors orders! :lol2:

Cheers,
Hymee.

It would be my pleasure for you to assist at any time. Just need to find some time when you are here. Hehehe.

And a little Aussie lesson for you... Over "here" we don't call them wrenches, wees call 'em spanners. A wrench is one of the things a plumber uses on pipe fittings.

Cheers,
Hymee.

rxeightr 09-15-2007 06:50 PM

Spanners, eh?

I've also learned that 'jugs' have a different meaning here too.

Brettus 09-15-2007 07:10 PM

just don't mention fannies .....

Hymee 09-15-2007 10:53 PM

And we use rubbers to erase mistakes, not to prevent them from happening :D

Brettus 09-15-2007 11:05 PM

and we put thongs on our feet ...

Hello Steward,

I am very hooked about your superchercher kit.
Videos, pictures, torque and power are great!
Do you think that your kit is reliable enogh for the German Autobahn?:)
If yes please take my order in advance.
I am looking forward to anoy some Porsches and Ferraris.
What do you think, which top speed can be reached.

BTW: If you want I can send you my car for left hand drive installation.

Best regards

Michael

SUbscribing! :) This is a VERY exciting development. I am trying to work out details to make it to SSX but it's a longshot. :(

I will, though, have a Hymee exhaust on my car VERY soon.

Hymee 09-17-2007 05:26 AM

A MKII one at that :p

Hymee 09-18-2007 02:37 PM

I'm packing all my stuff now, after another marathon effort in getting this kit ready to show off at SSX. I leave in 3 hours - the journey has only just begun...

Cheers,
Hymee.

stop in to NZ on your way home Hymee and well find a home for that SC . No point lugging all that stuff back to Aus. :)

Mark,

I figure it the best place to ask the (hopefully not to stupid) question, but having seen the pics posted by Razz1 above, where is the throttle body? Is it there but I just cant see it? Is it replaced by something else under the all that shinny metal? I cant see it on the "the other" SC either.

Cheers

Andrew

shinka213 09-23-2007 09:56 PM

hey Hymee...
i saw the pics of your SC from SSX....very nice....
do you have any pics of the SC installed in an 8 that you can post??
thanks

nycgps 09-23-2007 11:33 PM

too bad I cant go. I dont know, but I like SC more than Turbo for some reason.

Not hating Turbo, if price is about the same I think I would rather go for Turbo (I think its really about the same, ehh)

Gotta wait and see.

JeremyG 09-24-2007 12:49 AM

Ohhh, that is SICK looking (in a GOOD way). Wish I could have made it to SSX, was packing up to go when the wife called saying our Durango was broken down. Turns out the water pump seized. 2 afternoons later it's running, but I miss SSX :(

8 Maniac 09-24-2007 01:55 AM

exactly how big is the SC itself? Looks huge compared to the AFSC and pettit. is it heavy? sorry if it's been talked about before, but I've read through all of the AFSC thread in the past, so catching up to another long thread isnt on the top of my list of things I want to do lol. All looks good, might think about one when/if I have the money.

Andrew

It is there.

https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...4&d=1190573847

It is mounted on the FRONT of the blower. Almost directly behind the stock MAF tube. :D

It is DBW as well. And larger bore. That is the big scoop. Another first for Hymee. Just not quite finished the day before I left for SSX.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Dbw?

The SC itself is actually quite small. The drive system and the bracketry, ther cover and the intake make it look big. Yes, it is bigger than the AF unit. I should know. I've been staying at RP's place since I got here (except SSX), and worked out of his workshop for a few days as well. In fact I'm using his PC right now!

Big compared to the Pettit one? I don't know how that could be! In actual fact, it is smaller as the new billet timing cover for the reversed drive is not as "thick" as the standard cast one retained on the Pettit.

Is it heavy? How much weight would you put up with to be able to get instant boost of 10 to 13 or 14 PSI at any RPM? The blower is less than 15kg. All the other components are billet CNC'ed Aluminium, except for the layshaft, which is chromoly (chromium-molybdenum steel). There are two steel idler pullies, and two hard anodized aluminum Peterson pullies. And of course all the hardware (note the quality socket head cap screws everywhere). Plus the braided oil line with the Speedflow dash 10 alloy fittings.

Cheers,
Hymee.
