But I wanted to use as much as stock as possible for now. Then allow for "upgraded" components as people desired. So for now it has the stock injectors, stock throttle body (I have a electronic DBW big-bore one <of my own manufacture> there to test later), stock ignition, and the stock fuel pump to name the main components.

Cheers,

Update

Hi all.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but what follows is about as detailed as it can get...

On the evening of 22nd April (Tuesday), I attempted to start her up for the first time since the install began. Yes - she started first go. Did some checks on the serpentine belt arrangement, and all OK with nothing untoward going on. Tensioner was working a treat. Let all the temps come up, and everthing seemed OK. Now, I live 100km from where I did all the work and it was time to make a call as to whether I'd drive it home or camp the night on the workshop floor. Decided to refit the bumper and a few remaining tidy up things with breather hoses etc, and take her for a test drive...

Went for the test drive around the block, and had my trusty sCANalyser Live running on my laptop so I could monitor the vital signs in real time. Everything looked sweet, so I didn't even stop my test drive around the block, but rather continued on my 100km journey home. Stopped after about 30km as I needed a tank of "gas", decided I try out some 98RON E10 (10% Ethanol), and also used the stop to check under the bonnet to see if anything on the serpentine belt was awry, but all was good.

Finished the rest of the journey home without incident. It was about 2:30 am, so I went straight to bed.

Got up the next morning as I needed to go to work after 2.5 weeks leave, and drove her to work, as I have done everyday since. So far I have done about 1000km.

I am still working on some "bits", i.e a joiner tube between the MAF and the TB. I also need to get a couple of smaller drive pulleys made so I can spin the blower a bit harder. At the moment I am only putting a very small amount of boost in - but the Renesis LOVES this blower, and really gives the car some throttle response. And I am only driving it reasonable gently (no WOT runs) until I get some more work completed on sCANalyser Pro Tuner. I can't wait to try some 7, 10, 13 lb pullies .

One thing I'll say about throttle response... When you are cruising along the highway in whatever gear (i.e. 6th), and you hit resume or "accel" on the cruise control, she goes into boost! No lag. Exactly what I was after.

Happy Hymee.

Now on to progress some more on this tuning software, and sort out a few minor install details so this kit can become production ready!

Cheers,
Hymee.

Stock for now. Running low boost. As we increase boost we can determine at what point the stock components (i.e. intake / fuel / spark) are good for, and what needs uprating.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Oh wait four holes is better than two.

Because that shortens the ports and kills the bottom end.

I've been quietly putting miles on this and evaluating asects of the design. Since my last update, I put a smaller front pulley on and that upped the boost to about 9 PSI. The increase in power was very noticable, and would break traction easily. It is scary in the wet at 130km/h in 3rd gear and the back end breaks loose!!

I've been plagued by a problem that took me a long time to find. I had 2boost/vacuum leaks in the plenum / intake adaptor area. I managed to get a nice idle out of her by swar-in a MAF calibration, but that was a bad move - in hindsight. This introduced other problems. So I'm redesigning a new CNC billet one-peice intake adaptor / plenum which should address the 2 leaks I found.

The serpentine belt drive system on the front is now rock solid. The great thing is that I don't add an extra pulley on the front of the crank to add greater bending stresses to it. There is quite a long leverage from the front bearing to the front pulley. The spring loaded tensioner is magic, and I've had her bouncing off the RPM limiter a number of times without issue.

The rear drive belt is causing me to try something else after some careful examination of the state of things. The HTD (high torque drive) belt and pulleys are very good most of the time, but I think there is a fundamental problem with this setup considering the size of the pulleys I am using, the RPM's I am making, and the HP that goes through the belt.

I'm aiming to have both these issues resolved in a week or so.

I had to get 2 new back tyres caus I smoked the last 2...

BTW - I have brand new S/C in stock for when I make the first customer kit. Happy to take a deposit if anyone want first dibs on it, and is prepared to be patient. 5 Large.

Cheers,
Hymee.

PS - I'm running with the factory PCM tuned by my sCANalyser Pro Tuner with no piggy back ECU or other management.

PPS - The Aussie "Zoom" magazine ran a small section with a couple of pics as a sneak preview. I'd like to scan the article and show it off to you guys in the US, but I also need to respect their copyright. Aussie guys- go buy Zoom issue #129 for $7.95 and see for yourself!

Wow, I almost bumped this thread last night!

Great news!

Anything on the sCANalyser pro tuner software or is it still in beta? I am curious, will one be able to save a currently flashed map (ie: oe mazda flash) to the computer? This would be a great aid that many customers would look for/love! Much like how AP saves the current flash :-X Perhaps with pro tuner one could save a variety of flashes? I see no reason why not.

Great update glad to hear all the bugs are being chased away,,, looking forward to a production ready system,,,, man if the deposit is 5k the price point better be resonable with the other FI options I might be willing to be the ginney pig if you were willing to fly to B-more for install and tune.... I am currently looking at the Petit setup and have been pleased with the progress of thier kit as well... You have contributed to chasing down several bugs in that thread as well...

Your right about having a whole bunch of flashes. I currently have 20 or more as I have been slowly changing things as I build up some learning.

The reading of the flash from the ECU is possible in theory, and closer to reality in practice now I have a good "live mode" option running with my flashing hardware. I just need to do some more work. Too many things, not enough time...

Cheers,
Hymee.

I can understand the copyright aspect, but how much to get one of those magazines shipped over to the US?
