I'm hoping for some reasoning that runs a tad deeper than that

Well I know Mark's SC is 2 sizes larger than Pettit's and can flow more air so I suspect is has something to do with that.

Or would you rather me say that his has a bigger "unit."

I'll admit it, the gear whine from the videos posted from the first thread was awesome.

I think the packaging is the major appeal of this unit. Pop the hood and it looks absolutely stock. Just don't take the engine cover off!

First is ive met him and trust him and consider him a friend. Like many of our best people here (MM , BHR , Polak etc) he saw the community had a need and worked to fill it. So i like that ill be buying from from one of our own club mates.

Second is Ive seen his system and like everything about it - would like to see if he does do a throttle body. i haven't pinned him down on that but he suggested it last year

Third I like having the tuning option other than Cobb. Nothing wrong with the Cobb and MM is doing a great service for all with it even tho i disagree with him on a point. Id like to have as many different tuning tools as possible and I already have Hymee's Scanalyser which is a nice "bit of kit"

Lastly having seen the progression of the Pettit kit Ill just say I was less than enamored with how it came out initially and am still a bit befuddled over how such a respected company put that out for sale the way they did. There are more of my feelings concerning this elsewhere on the forum i wont dwell more here.

^ thanks for the feedback Zoom, I really appreciate it!!!

Do you expect the performance to be much different than the Pettit unit based upon what you know about the two units?

Other question is, what is the throttle body feature you are referring too (i.e. what problem would it solve?).

Last question: do you know when you will receive the kit (i.e. is Hymee done with development yet?) ?

I've got a 85mm DBW Throttle Body (CNC Billet) up my sleeve. That is what zoom spoke of. I had a "blank" on show at SSX. I'm not running it at the moment, but it is there is the throttle ever proves to be a restriction. BTW, I'm still running std injectors.

My blower is actually the same capacity as the Pettit. The "2 sizes bigger" comments have a bit of history to them. When I first started out, I tried a 1.3 litre blower. At the time, the US based supplier told me of "a company in Florida" using a smaller sized one. It quickly became apparent that 1.3 was a bit small, so the next two I purchased were 1.7 litre units. I checked with Cam at SSX, and he confirmed he was using a 1.7 litre unit - the MX417, same as me.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Mark, i don't know if this helps but FEED\Fujita eng. sells a throttle body with a bore increase of 2mm. If our unit is a restriction then it must not be a big one

Thanks for clarifying Hymee. Any comments on timing... dyno test and product delivery?

I'm totally down with Hymee's pro tuner. More info on that supercharger.... The price point is good, especially considering the pro tuner will come with it.

Will the Hymee Pro tuner be out for sale any time soon? Seems like it is ready for prime time.

Hymee, would putting a larger throttle body on the car call for another rescaling of the MAF, or would it not matter because the computer would simply account for the changes itself??

In theory, an ideally set-up MAF won't need re-calibrating. But it could depend on the downstream proximity of the TB to the MAF. At this stage, I'll go with the standard throttle body until such time as we try to squeeze more out of it. Will probably need the usual bigger injectors etc by that stage...

Cheers,
Hymee.

Thanks - glad you like it! I'm trying to get some of the physical things perfected a little more over Christmas, then I should be able to get some before and after dynos posted after some tuning refinements.

Cheers,
Hymee.
