Anyone around northern West Coast U.S. or B.C. or anywhere can gladly come check out my install and such when it's here. More hands the merrier, I'm far from an expert :).
I just don't want some shop deep in my engine bay when I'm not around. |
^i'm still in. just post up the date once you know.
I may take you up on the offer. This kit is definitely on my radar and plan to install it myself and would love to see what is all involved and see what the gotchas are. I would just be an extra set of hands when needed and not much of a technical resource.
^ that's what i wanna do. learn for a future install.
Just bring your own beer ;)
Beer and pizza is on you. We will provide gofer duties and sweat equity ;)

I see where this is going
:squint:
I wanna come watch too!
Not sure how soon I would be purchasing though, I have to change out the Fuel Injection on my Alfa Romeo first |

Hi guys, I had the pleasure this evening to inspect and drive Hymee's first production supercharger kit on his own RX-8.
As you would have seen in the photos that Hymee has posted over the past few weeks, the level of engineering and the attention to detail is a cut above what we traditionally see with aftermarket forced induction kits (not just those for RX-8's). The kit quality and comprehensiveness achieved by Hymee is an absolute credit to him and to those who have been involved through the research and development stages and now with the first production run. So I guess you're all wanting to know how it went?! Put it this way, I wish I hadn't driven it....because I want my kit now!!! It performed exactly as I expected....urgent but still as silky smooth right from idle through to redline. The screw-type compressor delivers a substantial increase in torque through-out the rev range to replicate the torque curve of a naturally aspirated engine that has a much larger displacement. Someone unfamiliar with the RX-8 would be hard pressed to immediately realise that the engine had forced induction. Unlike the hoarse whine produced by the Eaton M45 supercharger on my NA8 MX-5 (Miata), this unit is quieter and far more refined (efficient), which suits the RX-8 to a tee. I would've loved to have put a few more kilometers on the car and put the supercharger kit through its paces, but home was calling. Here are some photos of the installation on Hymee's RX-8. Sure looks good, seems to set much lower than mine. Only one problem, the breaks and washer bottle are on the wrong sides:yelrotflm

Absolutely beautiful work Mark....It looks better than 90% of OEM systems I've seen.
I can't wait to start the install. The engineer in me can truly appreciate the time and effort you've put into this. Those 3D CNC billet aluminum intakes on the compressor and engine intake are just awesome. There's going to be 10 really happy RX-8 drivers out there in a couple of months. Danny, thx for the pictures.... Once the systems cross the pond, those of us in the US/Canada will get the washer bottle back on the 'right' side. |
One day I can drop my bonus on one of these without the wife killing me.... the only FI system for me.
but I like the black cover :(
Wow beautiful stuff. And re-using the stock airbox even. Nice touch. :)

I love it without the cover and hope it is released without it or you can leave it off.
Question on the intake. Since the OE intake was used, I would assume that means the RB intake could be used as well. |

I'm guessing the front strut tower bar does not fit?
