Throw-down?
It would be more like two elderly women bumping into each other.

I don't even know what this sentence means.

Target for what?
The stoichiometric (chemically optimal) ratio you allude to above sets a "target" of 14.7:1 for gasoline (1.0λ). Optimal AFR depends on a multitude of factors, but I am unaware of any condition on any sort of RX-8 where 12:1 is optimal.
On an NA vehicle, optimum power generally occurs around 13:1 (.88λ). On a boosted vehicle, optimum power is around 11.5:1 (.91λ).
The actual "mean" target is bracketed by rich and lean values that are also considered "optimal".

Oh, sure. When a product comes in from one of your neighbors, you suddenly want us to go all civilized?
Thanks, Jeff. Seriously.

No prob. Seriously.

BTW - 12.5:1 or so would be the "RBT" vale I'd shoot for on a fuel-challenged, NA vehicle. 10.8:1 on an FI vehicle.
If I knew that I could "trust" the fuel the vehicle is running, I'd shoot for 13.2:1 NA and 11.5:1 FI.
Of course, ignition timing is a considerable variable.

The real trick is in preemptive lambda programming.

apparently it's a much bigger trick to get the parts paid for way back when to be sent .... Or at least that seems to be a common theme among several suppliers

I'll do some measurements on oil temp and intercooler discharge temp with a separate thermocouple right after the install, but no plans for a permanent gauge on either right now....Have you been having oil temp problems down under with only 1 cooler?
Thanks for your effort! I understand this part, It's comprehensive.

Due to a change in personal circumstances, I am selling my car.

Will be removing the kit next week for separate sale. PM me if interested. - Edit: kit now sold.

Also have the boost, oil temp and oil pressure gauges that I never managed to get fitted. Will sell with the kit or separately.

Good luck all with your FI projects. Has been fun flying the flag downunder on this forum.

Well, I got to the bottom of my climate control problem this week when the kit came off the car. Some other kit owners have quizzed me about it, so I need to fess up - it's not kit related at all.

I had a second oil cooler fitted after the kit went on. The utter moron who installed it took the climate control sensor off the mid-point location of the front bar to run the oil hose along it....and then clip tied it and left it dangling down next to the LHS oil cooler, where things get a bit hotter. Stoopid. Wouldn't you think Mazda had a reason for locating it where they did in the factory??? Speaka da English?? Stupido!!!

Anyway, has now been located back where it should be by someone who actually knows **** from clay and problem solved.

You're assuming I had any obligation to do so in the first place. One dimensional pissing contests bore me anyways.

my comment has more to do with the capability of the kit itself than anything else. Some results would add a dimension to this otherwise flat subject.

The results were never going to be that startling although the superior drive arrangement may have yielded better more consistent results up top than the Pettit guys have managed to achieve .

They are the same blower, so the power potential is gonna be pretty much the same.
