I bought a 2005 rx8 with greddy turbo kit
The car has 19,000km on it and is in perfect condition.
The previous owner recently had a Greddy turbo kit installed at a Mazda dealersip along with full Greddy exhaust system and stage 3+ clutch and flywheel.
She only drove it for a few hundred kilometers and decided to sell the car for a SUV.
I asked if the car was dyno tuned and she said no so that got me thinking.
How is the base map on the greddy turbo setup? I REALLY hope its rich and not lean.

I'll snap his neck.
I've never heard of a Mazda dealer installing an aftermarket FI kit, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Have you spoken to the dealer, or just the previous owner?

My local Ford dealer installed a vortech supercharger on my mustang so I dont see why a Mazda dealer couldint install a bolt-on turbo kit.
She bought a blow-off valve and they were not equiped to weld it in.
I am sure the stock base map for the greddy kit is pig rich but since she installed a full greddy exhaust she might be running a little lean.

Well at least you bought your car the way it should have come from the factory. Take that thing to a shop and have it tuned because you never know what some other idiot might have done, her boyfriend might have tuned it and they are broken up now and she doesn't want to spend a bunch of money getting the car worked on all the time. After that you might have a great car

I will definately get it dyno tuned.
The reason why I am asking how rich the Greddy base map, is because I need to drive 700km before I can get to a dyno.

I think you paid far too much, I bought mine brand new with warranty fully loaded except leather for 26k. You shoulda got that for about 21, and if you don't get the factory warranty because of the turbo, it should have been around 17-19k. When you get a modified car like that usually its a lot cheaper because you may be buying someone elses problems, unless its dealer and factory upgrades like the mazdaspeed parts. Either way I guess its too late now and I hope everything is in good working and not too abused of shape.

Don't think he paid too much. Even with the strong Canadian dollar cars are much more expensive in Canada.
Many interesting (potentially illegal) findings are coming to light lately as the US and Canadian dollars are at par yet the exact (EXACT I SAY) same car can be 15 to 20 percent more.
<end hijack>

Yeah I could have saved a bundle buying the car in the US but my bank would not allow it.
I dont really care much. I am coming from a 2005 Mini Coopper S and I have the same car payment so I am happy.

If you do a search in here you will find unlimited info on the Greddy including the stock maps. I have read in here that they are crap, drivable but I wouldn't beat on it too much, and you are probably making 230 hp instead of the 270 most people end up with. Search the greddy fixes forum to find out more about it or ask that question in there and I bet someone will help you out. But you don't really know if it has the base map for sure...

The girl only put 200km on the turbo kit after install and she said it never got tuned. She wanted to wait to install the blow-off valve before getting it tuned.

After a good tune you won't have so many worries. And the last owner can say whatever she wants but I wouldn't put my motor on the line by the previous owners word.
