Hey Guys Im new to your forum, my wife and I bought an rx8 less than a year

ago and we really wanted to turbo to car more than anything. but we talk to one

of our sponsers through our car club and they were sketchy about doing our car

because they have already have blown 3 rx8s. they said in order for it not to

happen was to order a greddy e-manage ultimate from japan and do a methanol

kit so the motor doesnt detonate what can we do to turbo our car and not have

so many problems.

Look at "major horsepower upgrades" area and there is a ton of info about different FI applications for the RX8 based on your goals and budget.

if your tuner blew 8 rx-8's then why are YOU still going to them?....why are you listening to what they say?...they obviously dont know how to tune the car....i would run.....

I found a few problems here

First off, you should know that Turbo does not come cheap, for a *reliable* operation, you probably need to dump at least 6-7 grand ~ I know I know mysql Im talking about Brand new. and it comes with EMU already.

Second, what the hell is that in order for it NOT to happen was to order a Greddy EMU from Japan and do a methanol kit ? wow. First off, you can get EMU ANYWHERE WITHIN THE US, sure the origin is Japan BUT, I can do a google search and I can find you one in less than 5 minutes. Plus, you dont need no Methanol kit unless you're running really high boost, but if you're up to that point, you probably have to upgrade TONS of other stuff as well, fuel pump, injectors, ignition, porting, etc. Obviously you're NOT going that route. so forget about the Methanol idea.

Third, in this case, why are you still even listening to that moron, obviously he does NOT know how to work with a Rotary, Internet is a wonderful place for information, although there are a lot of bogus info, but still. Do a Seach here. and Read, thats how you learn.

 

If you are worried about blowing your engine, the last thing I would get is the Greddy turbo. The kit is a mess coming out of the box.

Go for the Mazsport turbo kit or the Pettitt Racing Supercharger kit. Both far better alternatives from companies that tested their products far more specifically for the RX8. Better parts, and more R&D (for the RX8 exclusively). Your tuner, i would stay far, far away from.

 

Esmeril is a new turbo option that seems to be very well thought out and engineered. You'll find a thread on them in the major horsepower section. Esmeril, Mazsport, and Pettit would be the three places I'd look. Or a custom kit with someone very knowledgeable building it. Not someone who has blown three engines and sounds like they know less about FI on the 8 that I do, which is really sad as I'm an idiot.

well i think i will go with either esmiril or pettit racing turbo kits i dont think i am going to do a supercharger

 

or just go out and buy an rx7 FD
