I want a 20b

somebody tell me how I can get my hands on a 4-rotor 20b engine. I learned that if you want a strong n/a car...you gotta go bigger. For me the 1.3 isn't big enough.

20B is a 3 rotor . 4 Rotors are generally purpose built drag motors .

How much money do you want to spend ?

It isn't enough for you? Go buy a ZR1 or a Viper or a GT3 or a GT-R, you're obviously here for the wrong reason.

Yup, a plethora.

Why settle for a 20B?

26B FTMFW!!!.....variable length intake tracts!....dry sump!

We have a saying in the Punjab - "Go large, or do not leave the house, bygolly!"

....and please come again!

I have a '69 camaro with a 468ci rat motor. My dad has a '67 camaro with a 505 rat. My friend has a viper twin turbo...extremely fast, but incredibly awesome. I've only been a passenger in it. I had a turbo supra. I was looking into getting a new car and I settled on an rx8 because I was fascinated at the 80ci motor that produced 230hp. I've raced a few people and they ask what motor do I have and I always say a 1.3liter. Then they watch my rear bumper and freak out. I've done some research, but obviously not enough to know a 4 rotor is a 26b and a 3 rotor is a 20b. I still have a lot to do. someone told me about bolting 2 engines together. I think the price I might spend on a turbo kit and do it right, I could possibly go bigger on the motor and still stay n/a. Some people like my father and hardcore muscle owners think power adders is cheating so I want to stay n/a and go as far as I possibly can. I just want some ideas and opinions on direction. I could just spend the money on an insane supercharger for the camaro and be insane with that but I like to take the unexpected and dominate. That's why it's so much fun to be different.

Call Mazsport.

They can do the swap for you on a 20B for I think $15,000+

Oh yeah, it will take about a year or 2 to complete.

As far as a 26B the only company I know that builds them are in new zealand.

The infamous 26B NA rotory.

its a simpler route to just add a proper turbo system. first finding a company to build a 26b and install it with all of the proper additions to support the motor will be very very expensive. there would have to be a large amount of custom work done. if you have the cash by all means do it.

It's too much work man...Either turbo the 8 or dont do it at all. The 8 was made for the circuit track..not the drag strip.

Forgt the rotary!

Drop in a 2JZ-GTE from a Supra Turbo & there ya go.

It won't cost any more than the custom 3/4 rotor & you'll have the added benefit of having an engine that won't blow up easily.

20B is doable but it requires a lot of time/money/and work.

Turbo is definitely you're biggest bang for your buck. 10K get's you 400hp at the crank with the Renesis motor from Mazsport.

You can put $20,000 in work under your hood in the 8 and still blow the doors off it in the quarter with a worked over domestic V8. It's not that kind of animal. Then again, you can roll one of those cars to a local auto-x and watch good drivers in stock rx8s beat them by seconds. Then again, anyone who had researched the rotary engine for even 20 minutes would have known a 20b is a 3 rotor.

I really appreciate the insight from most of you, I thank you for the info that I couldn't spend 20 seconds to find. Some people come off slightly negative so I think I'll take my membership somewhere else. I appreciate your time and answers, take care.

The reason some people came off as negative is that you're talking about a 20B swap, an insanely expensive and complicated undertaking, without being entirely sure exactly what motor it is. Just saying, if you display a little more of the basic knowledge you can glean on your own, people will be much more willing to help.
