Long term FI...anyone???

I have about 20k on mine too. Original engine.
You'll find it hard to see anyone with 50k FI for a few reasons:
1. RX-8's have a 5 year 60k warranty for powertrain.
2. FI RX-8's are going to be 2-4 years old and will usually have 50k miles TOTAL.
3. When 2004 RX-8's came out, there was no turbo kit, so this leads to #4...
4. People driving a lot of miles aren't going to want or need a turbo. Face it, when you're FI there's more stuff that can break and if you need to travel, it isn't really the smartest of ideas.

Blown motor is definitely 'serious'.
...let's define 'serious' as 'anything that costs more than $500 to fix'
Maybe we can get a survey of how many miles have you put on your 8 in turbo config?

Well I started using FI at 17K (Nitrous for about 3-4K miles) and then turbo and the motor went at 44 so that makes it 27K of very aggressive FI usage with full boost redline pulls at least 7-10 times a day.

well, maybe next year I'll get myself one of thos econmy vehicles, and leave my hard working girl for joy riding on the weekends, then I can say that I put 3K a year on it.
Now it looks more like an engine a year, plus 1.5 - 2 sets of tires a year
