Just get it from BHR. They have the pump by itself and it's the right one for the rx8. $90 shipped is a very good deal. I just got mine in a few days ago and installed it. It's a great upgrade!

Their kit is more than just the Walbro pump. The new pump is slightly shorter than the oem unit. BHR includes a new o-ring to take up the difference in the size.

BHR also provides the highly recommended special tool, for a redeemable fee.

^ Who would buy the pump motor-only, when one could get a truly drop in solution?

Nice to have a clean sock filter as well as a new housing to boot.

The price that staticlag quoted was for the complete assy. You can get the pump kit for $100.

^ The super duper special mazda tank cap removal tool..........did you guys make your own or is it the same one the dealer has? Im asking because would there be a way to provide you with a payment to make a tool and have it shipped to me so i can have my own? I purchased the pump only awhile back and have been reluctant to install due to not having the proper tool even though i know its not necessary.

^PM Charles R. Hill

NAPA sells them too. Go to their website and search for "Fuel Tank Lock Ring Removal Tool"

Not even remotely the same tool.
The NAPA "universal" pump tool is flimsy and will not get the RX-8 ring off 90% of the time.
100% if you include the times it gets it removed by breaking it.

The BHR tool is custom made out of very heavy material and fits the ring perfectly without adjustment.

I'm offering options. I'm not commenting on quality, as I have seen neither.

By using the word "too", you are implying that they are the same tool.

I've seen the Napa tool and a few other variations. I actually watched someone use another tool and it flexed and bent and snapped some ridges off hence why i would like a better tool for my attempt/

It will be geniune, but the cheapest i can get it through my local dealer is $150 cdn. So maybe il go through BHR if they can ship one to me for less than that.
