Bastage: it's not about proving anything for YOURSELF, it's about knowing what you paid for.
I'm all about the butt-dyno observations but when it comes to FI, it's a whole new ballgame.

I'll be going FI soon, curious to see what your hp / tq curves look like. Hell, since it's not worth your money, I got $10 towards your dyno run.

The "Legally" as used in my statement, means: Not on public roads.

I don't street-race, since it's both dangerous and illegal.

I'm not surprised that mysql didn't get that, but I'm surprised that you didn't.

I'm prepared to wager that my car is making 302 +/- 5 hp.

I'll do a dyno, and if I'm wrong, I'll pay for it. If I'm right, whoever accepts the wager will pay for it.

Knowing my car makes between 297-307 is good enough for me. All I would gain by having a dyno done is that I would have an exact number in that range, during that particular day's weather, with that tank of gas. Doesn't really mean much to me, and not worth the money/time I'd waste having the dyno done.

A few others have already had dynos done, and they're virtually identical to Pettit's advertised Dyno.

Hitman, don't worry about Bastage.

A month ago I posted that I didn't like drag racing.

Bastage wanted to know why not:

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...5&postcount=59

After I explained it to him, he quit replying on that topic:

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...7&postcount=60

Now, a month later, he's on the rag or something, and keeps bringing up that he wants to go drag racing with me, like it's going out of style. But if you read those posts, you'll quickly see he's only doing it now that he knows I dislike drag racing

Context is everything.

Uhh no, I made the challenge before I knew you "disliked" drag racing.

Just re-read the links you just posted. Man, are you bad at twisting words to try and win an argument.

I keep bringing it up because you keep bragging, and I'm merely suggesting that you put your money where your mouth is.

Why do you guys even feed him? I could understand it if his arguments were cogent or based in reality, but the last time I actually read one of Bastage's posts, it was just another ad-hominem rant full of the same kind of bluster as the junk Moon used to spit out (albeit with somewhat better grammar and punctuation).

If you just block him, you will see he goes away. He only engages in these discussions to read his own words. He doesn't care about facts.

I thought you'd say that.

Here's where you mentioned drag racing:

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...1&postcount=53

You should note I was mentioning how little torque the Pettit kit generates. This is a fact. It's not up for debate. You then casually mentioned drag racing as a way to show which one is faster. After I explained why drag racing wasn't such a good idea you had no retort and no mention of it till today.

Clearly you were made aware last month that drag racing isn't something I desire to do, so you're pushing that topic repeatedly today knowing I'm not going to spring for it in order to try to make a point that you think I'm scared to prove otherwise. Doing so without context may make you feel like you've got something on me, but I would like to point out otherwise.

I noticed that.

You haven't seen me type, but trust me, my replies to him don't take up any time.

Dude! You're not even trying anymore. Tell me how you're going to tear me a new one with 195 torque on the drag strip. It sounds like fun.

You guys are both in Florida. I think you need to just find a drag strip and settle your differences there.

If your car is so much faster mysql (and I'm betting it is), then you won't need a really hard launch to run him down.

I think you read to much into his post he was just merely stating that bringing you off your high horse takes no effort. Now get the dyno.... it is like what I tell my women Put up or Shut up

I still think you guys should race. A dyno is a tuning tool. The track is where you see the real results.

I understood what you meant and I was just poking fun at you.... I guess Jase could say the same thing about you seeing how you won't "legally" show him your dyno numbers. He has provided a Dyno of his car and a few videos on You tube to prove his facts, I hope you in no way take this post as me calling you out cause I am not. I am just going by the facts that have been provided on this forum.

At this point I'd be worried to be anywhere near him with my car. He constantly talks about people scratching cars when no one brought up the topic.

slayer: mysql doesn't like to drag race. Hence why there's been no race

I know. He's afraid of breaking things. That's why I said he should ease into it off the line.

The tranny is glass.

However, as was noted, MySQL would easily walk him down.
Really, all that matters is trap speed. That is what shows which car is faster.
You can run .5 lights and 2.0 60' all day long if it floats your boat. That is all driver. Even the E.T. is just driver for the most part.
Its that 10 extra MPH at the trap that really tells the story behind the car.

Truth. A dyno is an awesome tuning tool, but dynos can vary quite a bit. Trap speeds don't lie.

Too bad to hear the tranny is so weak though. What's the point of having the power if you have to baby it all the time? Is someone (like CRH) working on a solution? I've been out of the loop about RX8 performance for a few months.

Edit: Never mind. I see CRH is working on it. Sounds like a very good solution for boosted 8's.

He is working on new internals. Mazsport is working on a drop in replacement using RX-7 transmissions. There might be other shops looking to do the same. As much as Bastage would like to argue otherwise, the transmission is extremely weak, something many are looking to address.

do we know if the new 8's transmission will be any stronger? We know it's got a 4.77, maybe beefed up a bit as well?

We're cool.

Again, I never claimed to have more hp or torque, nor did I claim to be faster, HE did. I'm just giving him the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is. I really don't have the money to throw away on a dyno when I know it will look just like Pettit's, and a dyno sheet doesn't really prove speed anyway... it suggests it.

A $20 admission to a drag strip is much cheaper. Plus, I can have my friends record it, and post the videos on youtube (from several angles, so we can do some post-editing to add to the hilarity).

He's afraid. Don't know what is is, could be afraid of blowing up his engine or transmission. Most likely I think it's that he's afraid of how he would feel after losing to some guy who spent considerably less than the 15k he claims to have spent on his car. Something is causing his lack of confidence, whether it's mechanical or psychological, there's something. He can put that in whatever context he wants.

He won't race. Period.

He can make up all the excuses in the world, but he won't do what I've done with my daily driver several times without any problems. There at least three other Pettit owners in this state would gladly show up to race him.
