Mawnee's Custom Turbo build

Good luck with that time line bro! I said the same thing and I started my turbo install in late May and still working on its. Of course there were the typical bolts that were tough as crap to get out, but there were MANY MANY runs to Home Depot/ Lowes/ Sears/ PTP to get fittings and tools and screws. This is the last turbo install Ill ever do, and my ***** already made, youre making yours from scratch! Best of luck man!

I ended up taking a nap when I got home from work and starting on it after the sun went down. Its damn hot here in Florida during the day right now!
Its all apart. Removed the Bumper, midpipe, manifold, air pump and stock air box. Also moved my power connections from my battery relocation out of the way.
Everything came apart pretty easy, nothing a breaker bar and couple extensions couldnt get loose. I did learn not to try to take out the motor mount in one piece. Wouldnt come out that way. Once I seperated it it fell right out
I'm sitting here in my garage atm(5:30am) wanting to start on the manifold..... But I dont think my neighbors would appreciate the chop saw and grinders this early If I take a shower and go to bed I"ll feel like I wasted the morning though...so I'm sitting here at my work bench with my laptop :D
Heres a couple pics:

screw the neighbors. any concessions you make to them will never be recognized or returned. tomorrow at 5:30, your neighbor on the right will invariably have his lawn crew out there. and the one to the left will be "tuning" his harley. and i know sonmeone's got a dumbass dog that barks at everything.
saw away.

I gave them until 7:30 before I broke out the heavy tools. Its now 10:30am and I'm gonna get some sleep while its hot out :P
Here is what I got done(pic). Cutting out those primaries is a beeech! But they are cut and the holes for them are matched on the main tube. With the exception of the holes I'll have to cut for the Wastegate tubes its all easy from here. Just cut the bend I need and tack it on.

You need to make the tubes bigger from the center out to the turbo. You will be choking the engine up top with too small of runners. The single pipe is fine coming off one port, but once you combine the ports, the pipes need to be larger for volume purposes. Hate for you to inves all this time and it not perform well enough for ya.

Now I have to try to get other things done while I wait for my pipe to arrive

After a short debate here on the forums(and after seeing what a bitch the oil pressure sensor is to get to) I've decided to order an oil filter sandwich plate for my oil feed. Overnight from Fluid Motorsports(2 hours away) so it should be here Thursday intime for me to button things up.
I've gotten my oil drain fitting welded into my oil pan. Changed my leading plugs to the BUR9EQP plugs. Guages are installed. Removed my intake manifold..
Still have alot to try to get done before I call it a night(morning)

Well, Thanks to the late UPS delivery I didnt get as much done as I wanted. It got too late and I couldn't use the Chop saw and Grinders.
-I at least got the main header done and welded up. Test fit it to make sure it clears the motor mount. Still need to get some bends and the final straight up to the turbo flange done.
-Also got all my coolant lines figured out and routed out of the way for the downpipe.
-While I was waiting for the UPS guy. Got the hole cut out where the original filter box passed through into the bumper. It will now accomodate a 3.5 and two 2.5" pipes for all my piping.
I mangled my hands trying to put together my oil return line last night, so I dont have any grip strength left today anyway. I'll try to get what I can done tomorrow and then pick at the last bits over the weekend after work.

So I had a nightmare last night and snapped awake in a cold sweat knowing that something was very wrong.....
There is no way that damn manifold will fit up through the enging bay once I get it welded up to the turbo flange and add the wastegate tube.
I could probably put it down from the top IF I remove ALL the coolant lines and the OMP, but no way do I want to install it that way knowing that will take that much work to remove.
The easy solution would be to put a V-band clamp right infront of the main header to connect the tube up to the flange and WG tube.....ala SFR. But damnit then I'd have to wait for parts AGAIN.

Manifold is done, all its missing is the flange for the wastegate. It DOES go up through the engine bay. I had to pull the OMP to get it through though. Started eyeballing the downpipe...thats gonna be a bish. I gotta wake up for work in 6 hours bleh...
Heres some pics of tonights work. The upper parts of the manifold are only tacked together in these pics:
BTW- Fluid Motorsports disappointed me. I placed my order for my filter sandwich plate tuesday night. I assumed, with all day wednesday to get it shipped out, I'd definetly have it today(thursday) with the overnight shipping. Fedex didnt recieve the package until 5:37PM Today. So after paying for overnight shipping they take two full business days to get it handed over to Fedex. Not overly upset since its not like I'd have the car done today anyway. But still, If someone pays for upgraded overnight shipping, a smidge more urgency in shipping it out doesnt seem an unrealistic expectation.

LOL my PM box is full of people asking me the same thing. Unfortunately in my garage and doing this on jackstands with a few power tools and hand tools would make it very slow to produce. And my little home MIG doesnt weld as well as I'd like. So i would feel uncomfortable with the quality on someone elses car.
Man...the things I could do if I had my own machine shop.
