Mazsport 3.5" GReddy CAI *pic*

I asked Scott to fabricate his GReddy CAI with 3.5" pipes so that my Cobb AccessPort could work properly.

It was well worth the wait and I will be installing it today.

there isn't enough space behind the low impact bumper for 3.5" so if the maf housing on that is 3.5" then it's got a very nice gradual reduction of the pipe diameter.

Let us know how well it works with the AP. You'll be the first I've heard of to try the two out together.

I did not measure the pipes but they both looked to be the same size diameter. If it does get smaller then its VERY gradual! I am sure Scott can chime in with the details.

I just installed it and it fits like a glove!

I am currently installing the Mazsport trio canister set so I am not ready to fire it up just yet.

The fit and finish could not be any more perfect. A few millimetres bigger anywhere and it would not fit!

The recirculation fitting that Scott welded on to the CAI is too big. I asked him to weld a 19mm (3/4") fitting but he used a 1.0". I will need to order new recirc fitting for my BOV. I capped off the fitting for now. No biggie.

I will also need to extend the wires for my MAF sensor connector.

I am just about to take it out for a test drive.

you can cut the black wrapper around the maf wires and that gives you extra room to play with.

This is not really a CAI to me, as it is sucking in warm air and not cold air from in front of the car.

It is however, an improvement of over sucking in yet warmer air from the engine bay and where the intake box used to be.

it's not getting air from the engine bay. It might not be quite as cool as in the direct flow of air, but the end result will be similar. The point is to get some piping between the maf and the filter, and to get the filter outside the engine bay. So as long as the airflow across the maf sensor is good, then this will be a success.

Right off the bat I know it made a huge difference.

The map I was using before was the "MM 2005 MT TURBO v1b_1b" and it is usually pig rich @ WOT but with the new intake it was WAY too lean so I flashed up to "MM 2005 MT TURBO v1b_4a" and I am getting close. I think I need to jump to "MM 2005 MT TURBO v1b_5a" before my AFR are perfect.

I will double check the intake temps. I was too excited to get my HP back!

the trims don't change the in boost afrs. The trim values are for the initial idle trims... if your car idles after being flashed, you don't need to mess with it.

be warned the AP doesn't calculate AFRs based on PSI. It only sees airflow and measures how much fuel goes with that air. PSI is of no importance.

I would suggest that you remove the black plastic in front of the air filter. This will open up a large area behind the bumper cover full of fresh air.

I am not sure what you mean. The 4a map adds 6% more fuel than 1a map.

MM YYYYs TT AA vXx_0.ptm - start file, no trim
MM YYYYs TT AA vXx_1a.ptm - adds 2%
MM YYYYs TT AA vXx_2a.ptm - adds 4%
MM YYYYs TT AA vXx_3a.ptm - adds 6%
MM YYYYs TT AA vXx_4a.ptm - adds 8%
MM YYYYs TT AA vXx_5a.ptm - adds 10%

yeah, for the initial fuel trim. as you drive the car, the car calculates a LTFT that overrides the initial default trim. What you want is a trim that closely matches the car's requirements so when you flash the vehicle, you don't have a time period where the car has to learn how to idle properly and it stumbles for a few drive cycles.

all of which is unrelated to in boost afrs.

Are you saying that it does not matter what map I choose because the ECU will override the trims to what it needs?

If that's what it does then my maps are too lean.

yeah, the pcm learns what it needs and sets trims based on that info.

What you need to do is measure the ID of your maf housing, and make sure that matches up with the maps Jeff sent you. If the two do not match up, your AFRs will not be right.
