I am going to check the wiring one more time by doing the following -
Disconnect the mazsport harness labeled "1" from the factory (car's) wiring harness and start the car. Then check L1 spark plug if the spark stopped. This is the only way we can verify if the mazsport coil 1 (no. 1 from the front of the car) is conected to L1 of the factory harness.

Brettus and a_ahlan,
I have identified what the issue is and am working on a resolution. Should not effect the way the vehicle runs or drives, just the CEL.
For those following along, these two RHD vehicles are the only RX-8's reporting any CEL's. We have randomly followed up with U.S. customers and have nothing but positive reports!
thanks guys, Scott

Engine stalled
Engine stalled and then wouldn't start at all. I am towing th car back to my residence. It looks like none of the coils are firing. I will be able to inspect closely in a few hours and provide more updates. There is no mazda dealership in my country and the RX-8 is JDM imported from Japan. Therefore I will have to find a solution myself.

As for the MS harness to NEW coils I was told by Scott the LAST connector goes to the FIRST coil (L1) and the others follow in order T1,L2,T2 Like the photo in post #431[/QUOTE]
expo, this part, is it the wiring harness that connect the coils to the connection?
and from connection to OEM harness?

Engine Stall Problem
Scott, the fuse was the first thing I checked it was fine. It seems that the Ignitor completely shuts down and therefore the coils don't fire. After I disconnected the battery and reset the ECU the engine started fine. I was relieved & thought the problem was gone. But later it happened again 2 kms into the drive cycle and the engine just wouldn't start. At one point I thought maybe it was low voltage from the battery, so tried to jump start but still wouldnt start. then I disconnected the battery and reconnected again. The car's been running fine since then. Also I noticed, after the ECU reset, the ECU takes quite a long time to learn to stabilize the idle. This time I drove the car for an hour before I shut down the engine.
The problem is intermittent and I have no clue when it will happen again. The ignitor is my "suspect".

i got my car back, runs fine, pulls strong. no surging in power, so i assume it was just the pcm being reset.
something i noticed when i first installed it though, and again today. did anyone else notice a change in sound? even an ex said it sounds different. it sounds rumblier. more rumble. i dunno, does that make sense?

guys i have a question about this coils....
have you guys ever put the wrong plug wires? for example, there are 4 size, the long one is on leading 2 instead of leading 1....or other type of mix....?????? does it prevent the car from starting up? because i was just debating with my mechanic about the size of the wire plugs...what are the reason that they have different size of wire plugs?

because they said that 21" has to plug into L1 and 20" into T1, 17.25 for L2, adn 14.25 for T2. i don't know, my mechanic got tired of trying the coils many times, i think i have to install them my self, to see the wiring, i hope i don't blew the engine...
Scott, i need you to back me up...

interestingly I got 2 x 20" leads and no 21" one . Still worked out OK
Scott any closer to a soln. on the CEL issue ?
