Does anyone know what the max HP we can safely achieve from a Renesis with these coils and forced induction, an estimate or guesstimate? I think I have seen someone on here that has 361 rwhp and the other guy has 354 but are they limited by what the motor can handle or is that the max they feel safe at with the coils? I'm just curious as to why no one has hit the blessed 400 rwhp mark with the Mazsport coils being on the market now.

Fuel and the knock limit are the only constraining factors.
With sufficient octane and tuning, there isn't a significant power watermark until you hit the structural limits of the castings.
That should be a similar power limit to the REWs out there.

I think in a streetable configuration and with regularly available fuels, 330 - 370 is going to be the typical high end for most of us.

That said, power is meaningless. I don't know how many more times I'm going to have to say this before people start getting their heads straight but, torque curve is everything.

I know there is an old saying about torque winning races and horsepower selling cars. I'm also aware of the mathematical relationship between the two.
However, if you have ridden in two cars with nearly identical peak power, you will notice the one with the flattest torque curve is significantly faster.
So much so that the latter vehicle will be faster even with significantly less peak power.

I have several 300 HP RX-8s running around out there. I am quite certain that their performance is significantly better than many others with 30 - 60 more peak HP.

A better coil system - like the one that Scott makes - is going to improve performance everywhere, not just at peak power.

Ah perfect, thanks =)

Now if I can pay by money order (I have a US acct, but it can't be linked to my paypal or my CC) I'd be set...

I can't believe paypal raised their fees to almost 5% =( that sucks...

Quick question Scott when will the unit be in stock and ready to ship for people who are just waiting for the item to be in stock before they pay for it? Any info you can give regarding this would be greatly appreciated so I can pull the trigger on the Ignition Solution.

Hey I have a problem.

The whole bracket came loose in three weeks. I drove less than 100 miles.

I know I had the bolts tight. Now I know why the stock braket has side bolts. I wish they weren't 8mm.

There's a very sharp clover leaf that I have taken several times. It must have been the G forces.

I recomend you guys to recheck the bracket.

Well, I'll check tomorrow............although I did check it all out about a week ago and no issues. I did just run it really hard today through some corners, so I will give it another look and report back.

put the ignition back in today, very happy.

argh. now i see this. i just put my ignition back in my car today. would have been a really easy step to add some locktight to the bolts. :/

anyway, again i am really impressed with it. i dont know if it is just my car, but i have problems with the car stalling out at low speeds. i guess i dont give enough gas for it to be happy. but this mod really changes that. makes the car a lot smoother. and not just at low speeds, im finding the engine was a lot smoother today than it ever was. my friends dad helped me install it this time, i really appreciated his help. he lightly squashed the red molex connector that came loose last time i had it installed. came loose on the highway. car went beewwooooooooop. off. anyway, he took pliers to it and it fit much tighter now. he also took a small ziptie, looped it through the oe end housing and around the red wire. its in there tight. as a further measure he wrapped it in electrical tape (he works on airliner avionics, he knows how to wrap his electrical tape. ) as if it wasnt looking good as it was, he wrapped another small ziptie around the tape to make sure it doesnt unwrap. the rest of the install went as before. just peachy.

i do have a question/observation. i turned the car to make sure it works and then let it run for a few minutes. i noticed the exhaust was putting for a bit of white smoke, but didnt really think anything. after the temp gauge moved a tad, i revved to 5k and turned off. it REALLY smoked, and it STANK. even after the motor was off, smoke curled out of the exhaust.

so, what happened here? the only thing i can think is that the ignition burned off some excess carbon.

Mine is solid as well......checked this morning. One of these days when I'm already in there, I might add some loctite to the bolts just for grins.

EK9 Civic Type R vs RX-8 w/ Mazsport Ignition

Heres a comparison I have done with my friend's EK9 Civic Type R B16B 184HP (stock) weighing only 1090 KG. The car has every possible NA bolt-on you can think of (includiong DLI coil packs) from Mugen & 5Zigen which suggests that its more then 184 BHP.
I don't have a video of before my mods but it was very difficult for me to beat the EK9 and I usually won by half or one car length.

The following video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYrEwNhaxHg
is after I have installed the Mazsport Ignition Solution, RB Flywheel & Custom Cat Deletion Pipe.
