Just like I thought....just punch the cat out for the meanwhile......

you don't necessarily need to have a straight pipe made or put in a new cat yet..

Was this the stock cat or an aftermarket hiflow one?

Take the catpipe off and beat the combs out of it. Or you could just take it to a muffler shop and have a custom straight pipe made for around $70ish. This will provide more hp too, but I'm not sure how your emanage tune will do with lack of backpressure. What psi do you have it tuned to right now?

I'm going to try to put my straight pipe back on with the turbo and see if that helps the problems I'm having. I'm getting it dyno tuned this upcoming week hopefully, but I'll let you know if it runs alright with the straight pipe with the factory boost settings.

Straight midpipe will have its own tuning problems. The Greddy map is designed for 5.5psi. Even a RP cat pipe will reduce the backpressure to the point where you'll see boost in the 8psi range. At that point it will start to detonate around 5-6k RPM at WOT.

What can you do to stop it from detinating at 8 psi?

If I can get an engine for that I'll take it. How do I Check that out?

Don't tell me, They have a website, right. I'm not used to these things yet.
Someone just said they have a vendor thread, I answered my own question. :o

I'm on my way.

WHAT?
I have the RP midpipe and no detonation problems, nor is the car automatically boosting up to 8psi. Where are you getting this from?

I'm getting this from running the car. Two separate boost gauges read 7.8 psi max and detonation on 91 octane in 60 degree ambient air.

so are you saying your car detonated, and the only mod you had was the rp cat?

i think the point he is making is if you cant get the exhaust out you cant spin up a turbo.

Yeah I just took my cat off and put my straight pipe back on and it's nowhere near as loud as it was before the turbo and it runs soooo much better. For some reason the boost never drops either. Another plus is since I'm still running dog rich it shoots flames everytime I shift gears or gear down. It's almost on demand. I love it :D

get the exhaust out? i am going to assume you mean "if you have too much restriction". When i had my turbo on with oem exhaust/cat it spooled fine. Now that i have aftermarket cat/exhaust it still spools fine.

Pretty much. I have other mods but none that I believe could contribute to this problem. Again, up to 7.8 psi boost with 91 octane gas causes detonation between 5-6k rpm. I don't know why I'm spooling that high and you're not.
