More information on the Procharger Kit?
Are there any updates on the cost of this kit and when we could expect to see it here? It's running for $10K (Aus, or $8.7K US). I'm hoping that price will come down a little. I've only found information from :
http://www.dnamotorsport.com/ProChar...8_Kit/RX-8.htm
and
what little bit www.mazdatrix.com has.
I don't really like the front mount but the kit seems to be pretty complete (stage 2 @ 10psi) and the numbers are impressive. I don't like where it's mounted looks wise, but you don't have to worry about getting to your oil filter and no oil lines, which is a good idea! I don't know much about prochargers, I know they have been using on domestics for some time I think. Let me know if there are any updates or additional resources.
Thanks!

I've seen them going for $6K for applications like a 350Z. I don't see why it would cost more for an RX8 unless someone is trying to make a buck. I'm even guessing you could peice together a kit.

it's too peaky, and makes less hp than a stock rx-8 until you're over 5,000 rpm.
what you want is something that makes nice power and torque for a wide rpm range. not something that doesn't make hp or torque till near redline, and looses 100 hp whenever you shift (due to the rpm drop)

For the price, my money would hold out for Hymee. His will walk all over a centrifugal.
Centrifugal supercahrgers do have their place. They belong on large engines that already make lots of low end power. On top of that they belong on engines with low redlines so you have a greater amount of average boost throughout the powerband. The rotary is neither of these and therefore a poor match for a centrifugal. Peak power is nothing without a nice high average.

Good points!
I just like the mounting location, don't think I care too much below 5K rpms anyways but I guess it is always nice for making quick passes. I see what you're saying a lot of money for something that only hits hard at high rpms, I guess on the the flip side it might be good for everyday driving.
