Mustang Dyno numbers on bridgeported motor
#52
Wait, what? So, you drove your dyno sheet out to the drag strip to get your buddies to tell you how great your "area under the curve is"? Uhhh, you were AT the drag strip. Pull up to the line, wait for the light to turn green and go... then post your time slip. That elimates mustang vs. dynojet, correction factors and all the other BS that's getting thrown around in this thread to muddy the water. lol
The drag strip, really? You could argue about dyno sheets on your computer at home.
Anyway, as for your dyno numbers... if you're happy, I'm happy for ya. Although it's obvious you took my remarks as some sort of "attack" on you, they weren't. I tried to make that clear with my "I'm' using "you" as a general term" so all the "riding the jock" and desperate comments weren't called for. Just FYI, personal attacks will get you "penalty points" or 3 day bans... ask me how I know. lol
I'll be happy to submit my resume' if you'd prefer, but I've built more 600+ whp cars than I can count on one hand, so I've spent plenty of time around dynos. Anyway, have fun with it, but remember, you don't race dynos.

I know I wouldn't be to stoked.
I made 2 less ft lbs. and 8 less hp than you, completely stock n/a and I'm at 4800 ft elevation.
Like it's been said, should have made a run down the drag strip so you could have put this to bed already. As long as your happy, keep rotatin'

Thanks for the video , hopefully this gives clarification to ones who don't get the discrepancies of a mustang dyno vs dyno jet. I'm still getting my car re dynoed in June.
The second results will give me figures to go by. If both numbers are low then I know my efforts were for nothing . If the number is higher than what I have then I know the dyno jet records higher .
Junkman , a local builder did my motor. Louis " primo Mazda" morales.

LOL, as usual, you are missing the point. The point is that all dynos need to be properly calibrated and operated properly in order to be accurate and all dynos results can be fudged. The dynojet is no different than the Mustang so if both are not calibrated or operated properly then the results are meaningless. So comparing the results of one Mustang Dyno run on one day, to Dynojet results done on another day is useless.

Have you logged any corrected mass airflow data before/after?
The concept of "working" might be a relative term. I can say that the porting I had previously dyno'd (many times) did "work" in the sense that I had mild increases in midrange torque, a longer torque band at higher RPMs, and much better throttle response. That was simple porting/cleanup on the secondary ports while my newest porting includes pretty aggressive approaches on both the primary and secondary ports.
In any case, if you are happy with your results, I am happy for you.

And that's the thing Charles besides the dyno number the notices of increased throttle response, mid to high end pull has greatly increased.
At this point in time I will throw this out there I have gone against my cousin stock 04 Rx-8 with 32k miles 6 speed . Every time we run my car pulls and runs away from his. We even switch cars , and my car still pulls with him behind the wheel. What I have notice is that is his car will pulls slightly harder till we hit 6500 rpms, then after that my car pulls extremely hard from him . Same when he drives my car. And it's no little walking away it's pulling away with no intention of him even catching up.
The car feels great to drive!

Dyno debates are heated on every forum. It's just that on Corvette and Viper forums you are talking 200-300WHP discrepancies, I have seen people lose their minds at dyno days.
Many years ago we (turbo Honda guys) did a dyno day with a local Chevy Impala SS (Chevy Caprice with an LT-1 Camaro engine IIRC) club and most of us make more HP than them so they called fowl. Well, the shop owner was a domestic guy and sort of took offense to the accusations that his brand new in ground dyno was inaccurate, so he slapped his beautiful Chevelle on the rollers and put down like 100WHP more than any of us and they still didn't believe that Turbo LS Integra made more WHP than their most modified SS.

You are so right. I was researching the web and I didn't know at one time Mazda was getting called out on there numbers, almost to the point of a class action law suit to be filed against them. People where getting abnormally low numbers for the 8. Not just on this board but everywhere. And I read that for some reason this car doesn't like the dyno. The performance is there when tested in real applications like the drag strip , track , etc. But putting down numbers on the dyno is hit and miss.

At least that's the rumor...
