my GReddy install = plug n' play!
Since the GReddy was pretty much the first commercially available FI system, there have been some folks with issues. But just like there are some folks with issues, there are some without - you just rarely hear about things when they are going well. So, I wanted to share my very positive GReddy experience with everyone! :p
I installed the system myself on jackstands in my garage. All total, it took me about 10 hours with a difficulty rating of 7.5/10. I thinks its very do-able if you have any mechanical inclination whatsoever.
Just so you know, I have the M flash, which I think is what GReddy developed the kit under. I am running the map that comes with the kit, not MazdaManiacs map. And, I have a BOV that is vented to atmosphere and I don't have the anti-stall map running. I am running the EManage Blue. I did install colder Iridium plugs but I didn't gap them down. I have the older, two-dongle harness. To keep an eye on things, I have the PRofec-e01 with the Innovate LC-1 running to it.
So far (KnockOnWood) I have had no issues at all. The drivability is just like stock - except with loads of extra power! This is how the car should come from the factory. There is absolutely no issue with the comfort of driving the car. There's no hesitation at all. The power comes on nice and smooth whenever I want. I feel like I am in total control at all times. There's no stalling, even with the VTA BOV. The idle just as smooth as ever, and I didn't install the screens in front of the MAF. There are no backfires or flames. The smog pump doesn't stay on when I shut the car off.
My primary concern with this kit was the drivability. THis is my only car, and I didn't want extra power at the expense of making the car a pain in the *** to drive. But, the EManage is controling my car absolutely seemlessly. The power is right there without any hickups when I mash the gas.
The LTFT might be a concern with the emanage, but I'm keeping an eye on it. So far after a couple of days its sitting at -3%. I hope it stays there! :p
I was scared of the kit when I thought that i'd have to get the Interceptor, or some other quasi-stand alone. I didn't want to sink any more $ into it. But, if things continue to be this good, I wouldn't even consider it!
So, there you have it. Maybe its the fact that I am on the M flash, which I plan to keep as long as possible. Maybe its just good luck. But, with some guys pooh-poohing Greddy's kit, I wanted to say I LOVE IT! I wish I had done it sooner! And, the EManage has not reduced the drivability of my 8 at all. It feels like it came from the factory with this turbo.

Yes, the flash version will make a difference. Greddy's map was done on an M flash car but even then it's still too rich.
MadDog, any plans to get it on a dyno and see what it's making. Lots of greddy turbo owners, including myself, were not gaining power above 5k due to the super rich stock map.

Eventually, yes. I will put it on the dyno and see. I can feel the power drop off up around 6-7k. But, I want to see how the LTFT is going to act before I buy any dyno time. I am still not sure how the LTFT effects the closed-loop operation. I can see the LTFT is going down (-15% right now) but I am not sure that I am in danger of getting too lean yet. Just keeping an eye on my AFR under boost doesn't seem to indicate any problems yet. I am still between 10.5 and 11.5

Are you sure it's due to the map? Scott's dyno runs showed the Greddy turbo maxes out around 6k RPM and boost drops off after that.

Below is my pretuned/posttuned dyno runs. After they leaned it out to (11.8-12.0AFR) it kept making power after 6k rpms.
This was 2 months ago and my AFR's are rich again. Car feels sluggish above 6k. The LTFT did mess with it a bit, but the main change was going from M-flash to R-flash (messed with the stock fuel maps.)
I've given up on the emanage and waiting for the Interceptor X to arrive. I won't have to worry about LTFT or even a new flash messing with the fuel.
