Mystery Custom Turbo Thread
#251
Hi,
As it is explained in the video details on the right side at youtube this was a tuning shakedown run. The car wasn't on its final tune it was just a trial video to show how the car sounded with the HKS single and with a turbo to the people in the HKS single exhaust thread.
The day after the video was shot we found a 1" diameter hole on one of the silicone couplers to the intercooler which was leaking a massive amount of boost causing the turbo to spool slowly. The hole was a puncture one that was probably caused during one of the many trial installations and grew as the car was run under boost to the point where it was huge. I can assure you that after replacing the coupler its a whole nother car and a new video is in the works and will be released shortly with an improved tune on the maps and no holes of course()

It will spool just fine, with no resistance on the compressor, and over-spin too trying to make the desired level of boost, that just keeps on escaping.
I can't see the video (my company blocks youtube), but looking at some of the pictures I have noticed that you have blue single layer silicone/rubber couples in your install. From my experience those things are really crappy. They pop like balloons at around 10-12 PSI. It would really benefit you if you got some reinforced couplers with T-clamps. I never had to worry about it popping or slipping ever since they were put on my pipes.
Unless off course those are old pics, and you already took care of it.

Broken coupler will definitely ruin the experience.

We'll have more details for you guys soon...we have kept mostly silent so Christian and the other engineers who assisted could focus on the kit instead of speculation, I hope everyone understands.

The kit has been released on the esmeril racing turbo kit thread. www.esmerilracing.com or www.mazdaparts.com This is the old thread.
