Nitrous Install by CRH for WCS

Well I finally did it. After several months of discussions with Charles_R_Hill, reading and waiting for parts to cross the border in to Canada … I was set for a most excellent adventure to Detroit for a custom install by CRH. How sweet is that!?

Parts purchased:
-----------------------------------------------------------
1 x Nitrous Wet Kit
Zex Nitrous Wet Kit (82021P)
USD 567.95 + USD 0.00 Tax (0%)
-----------------------------------------------------------
1 x Remote Bottle Valve Opener
Zex Remote Bottle Valve Opener (82009)
USD 189.95 + USD 0.00 Tax (0%)
-----------------------------------------------------------
1 x Bottle Heater
Zex Bottle Header (82006)
USD 119.95 + USD 0.00 Tax (0%)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Preparation: I packed all my stuff up minus the Nitrous tank to avoid any hassles at the border. If I was to do it again I would probably just have everything sent directly to CRH. However I would have to claim it at the border coming home, wouldn’t I? (Not)

Day One:
Departure 7:15 am – after getting lost in Windsor and an hour plus to get across the border I arrive in the States. I did have an interesting conversation with the US Customs Agent when he looked in the truck of my 8.
Eventually the Agent waved me through.
SWEET! So I finally arrive at CRH’s house at 2:00 pm after getting lost again, and again. Yup 7 hours boy I suck.

After introductions and a mandatory bathroom break we head out to the Performance Shop to refill CRH’s bottle and pick up some fittings and fuel line.
End’s up that the bottle is leaking and they don’t have the parts we need and later we learn that Charles forgot his cell phone there as well. Not a good start.

When we get back first job is to adjust my clutch pedal: Ummm yeah ouch, advil anyone?

By now it’s also become evident that CRH has super natural contortionist abilities. It also struck me that due to my late arrival I will need to stay overnight in order to get the install completed. Originally we figured it would only take the day.
Charles kindly ask me to stay at his place.

RB Cold Air Intake is then removed so the Zex Control Unit can be mounted to it.
Removal

Installed

Check it out. Unit is out of the way but easy to access.

After this we call it the night and go in for an awesome steak dinner prepared by Charles better half.
THANKS Mrs.CRH
The rest of the evening was spent surfing the web via his neighbor’s wireless internet. SWEET!

Day 2
Ever notice that after a good night’s rest how the morning can give you a clear perspective on things. Notice Charles car, its current situation is very good on fuel. LOL
Think I’ll save that mod for later.

Install of nitrous arming switch.

Connection to Throttle Position Sensor.

Nitrous feed line

Nitrous feed line completed

Nitrous feed line run to Zex control unit

Again Charles displays his super hero abilities. Here you can clearly see he has changed the laws of physics by lowering the weak and strong nuclear forces of the atom in order to phase through the intake manifold. This allows him to disconnect the fuel line.

Mission completed.

Charles did an awesome job, and damn was it hot out.
Thanks for being an awesome host and and making me feel welcome.

Unfortunately we were unable to test the system because of the faulty nitrous bottle. The return home was much more efficient and I was home by 7:00 pm only a 4 hour drive this time!
I hooked up my nitrous bottle and the system charged perfectly, not a single issue. Well a small nitrous leak that was fixed easily enough. My first run was in second gear, the engine sounded great, and no unusually sounds. The RB Intake growled low and strong .

The second pass I applied the nitrous in first gear which just seem to scream by, grabbing second I squealed the tires without intending too then third was over and a big shift in to fourth. Damn was that ever awesome! (minus the small 4th gear grind)
NOTE: I’ve been experiencing a 4th grind since I changed my tranny fluid with RP Max Gear 75w90. So if you see me in post about having transmission issues it’s not because of the nitrous! I’m just say’n :D

Thanks CRH it was mission I won't soon forget and would do again in a heart beat.

Thumbs up

Isn't it great when people begin to get into modding on their own?
Even if little help here and there was needed, still it feels awesome.
WCS, enjoy the feeling of the true accomplishment. :-)
Great job guys!!!

Do you have any other mods on the car other then Nitrous? How many shots are you running and how big a kick does it give when it engages?

Thanks

That would be VERY easy. You already have holes in the engine bay that lead to them. So you wouldnt even have to drill.

CLEAN looking install! Time to pick up some BHR 'stealth' mods to hide that nitrous connection.
