Not sure I want a PSSSST

Apologies if this is already covered, but I spent an hour looking... Point me in the right direction if it is

If you bolt a Greddy kit on, what options do you have for relieving pressure other than a BOV? Or at least a vent to atmosphere BOV?

I'm not sure I want my car to do the whole PSSST every time I change gear. If I put a Turbo in my car, I'd rather people didn't know its there. Not to surprise people, but rather to avoid attention.

Are there any options available for what I am looking for? Thanks

Greddy type s can be plumbed back in the system. Just get some one to to some welding and you are in good shape.

you could run no BOV but you still might get the sound from compressor surge, or you can run a recirculating BOV, very little noise.

those are really the only options.

personaly I like to get a atmosphear BOV and put one of those 'whirly whistles' in it...so when i shift it makes a funny sound... duck and turkey calls also work.

Not all blow-off valves are that loud especially since were running low boost.
My APEXi sounds very smooth, and somewhat quiet.
HKS sounds like a whistle.
Greddy... presonally i do not like the sound of their BOV, and from what i heard.. they do not have very good reliablity. (NOTE: this was just something i heard, and i've never seen a problem first hand).
Blitz is VERY LOUD

There is a link on here to alot of different ones you can hear. I'll find it in a second.

How much work is involved in recirculating the BOV? What additional piping is needed?

recirculating tends to help MAF cars, although the emanage has a feature to help out MAF cars with atmosphear BOV's

Basicaly a Recirculating BOV takes air from the HOT charger pipe (the one coming out of the intercooler that runs to the throtle bodie) and vents it back into the intake pipe that feed air into the turbo. most stock turbo cars have one, since its easy and helps emmissions/idle.

You can still hear it in some cars, but its very quiet.

BigOLundh is right, some BOVs are very quiet, esp. at the 5-6psi the greddy turbo kit runs.

I personaly love the sound of the factory turbo cars that have no BOV, the Wa-na na na na na na, sound they make is awsome.

I love that "squirel in the pants" sound. It seems like a lot of the cars in Japan have that sound, whereas here in the US everyone seems to be into the basic "psst" sound.

if you are NOT running a recirculating BOV you will run rich between shifts.
