Did the shop dyno the car? If it's ready, you should have those numbers by now.

Cam 07-07-2005 01:20 PM

Slept all day?

Damn, if I knew my FI'd 8 was ready for pickup I wouldnt be able to sleep a wink!!

dastallion951 07-07-2005 01:42 PM

hey someone else on here suggested a good idea what every rx8 owner on here should do throw in a couple bucks we get a used renesis engine with some miles on it they throw a speed force racing turbo put on it n put it to abuse see how much it can hold before it blows that way one of us isnt an unlucky owner of a blown up engined rx8. thats just my opinion though, if ur gettin one put on whats a couple more bucks to see what ur engine is capable of.

You know, that's starting to reeeeeally sound like a good idea.

D1GT-x8 07-08-2005 04:39 AM

ok im picking up tommorow FOR SURE. i drove the car today and DAMN. thats all i gotta say. a couple notes the car started. they first started it without the pipe and wow it sounded like a monster. we did a little driving test tune. the car stalled but thats because the screen for the MAFS wasnt yet intalled. the car was running rich so they really need to get it on the dyno for tuning. they didnt want to make an appointment unless it was running good. and it was. the problem was that the setup that i have, is way different than the set up the test car had. (larger turbo internals, test pipes...etc).the car threw a CEL but tim fixed that up with a hit of a button. the only thing left to do is that they need to install the screens, the water injection hasnt yet been installed, and they need to get it to the dyno shop for some FUN TUNING(which will be scheduled next week. i was kind of hurrying them because i need to clean the car for a little local car show. DUNLOP is giving away sponsorship so im hoping to pick one up for the HOT IMPORT DAYS show here in DAYGO. another thing when we test drove the car. it was only set for about 4 psi. so at 8 pounds. i think ill be needing a neck brace. hahaha but eveything is turning out really good. hope i get the dyno #s soon for all you to enjoy. but for now you guys just have to wait

D1GT-x8 07-08-2005 04:42 AM

hahaha and about the members trowing a couple bucks. ill consider it. but ill have to get enough money to fix this problem without coming out of my pocket

dmp 07-08-2005 08:37 AM

I'm a little surpirsed they'd give back a largely un-tuned car to a customer. Be pretty careful with it until you can get hard data on what the car is doing!

:)

NoTears316 07-10-2005 05:22 PM

Well, you supposedly picked it up 2 days ago and attended a car show with it. Still nothing posted though?

Iwannarex8 07-11-2005 05:08 PM

what car show was it?? I would have thought the pics would be up by now?

slaxer07 07-11-2005 06:29 PM

Maybe he is still sleeping...

D1GT-x8 07-11-2005 08:54 PM

hahaha i got the car back its great. it'll still have to be tuned. to see its full potential. but dont worry as soon as i get the # i'll post. sorry guys ive been stressing out about the hot import days comming up. because i dont have tires to put on my rims. im trying to borrow some from shops. that im close to. so far its the KEI OFFICE 3 spoke 18s , Axis MOD7 20's (maybe), or mazda speed but i still dont know the sizes yet. if anyone wants to let me borrow. let me know. and i'll pay for your HOT IMPORT DAYS TICKET.

...right - it'll leave us speculating...like...

I speculate the car made about 215hp at the wheels on the dyno; thus, SFR told you to wait to post numbers until they can create respectable-for-the-money numbers.

:D

I hope I'm wrong!

:D

Omicron 07-12-2005 04:01 PM

Ok guys, I know we're all interested and frustrated for lack of results, but let's play nice or this thread gets closed and we have to start all over again. I've removed the last few nasty posts to give us a fresh start. Thanks.

davefzr 07-12-2005 04:11 PM

I like fresh starts since mine was one of them :) Just give us some updates.. We are dying for them..

Thankx!

NoTears316 07-12-2005 05:48 PM

I was thinking the same thing.... I also hope you are wrong.

SpeedForceRacing 07-13-2005 12:34 PM

Geez. Some of you guys have nothing better to do but be pessimistic! I am loading up some pictures and video right now.I will post some links in my next post.

SpeedForceRacing 07-13-2005 12:52 PM

The videos are short and small because they are done with my digital camera but this should hopefully prove to the naysayers that Danrylls car is indeed turboed and ready to dyno on Friday. Pics in the next post.

First off, 215 at the wheels? Are you kidding, that is Greddy territory. The car is right here, right now with our turbo kit on it and I will put up $500 in cash for anybody that wants to come down and have a little race with their Greddy turbo kit! Any takers? Our address is 10149 Prospect Ave. Santee, CA 92071.

To ease everyones minds, it is impossible to do anything like this since we use an unbiased dyno. The place we dyno our cars is called the Dyno Shop. Look them up on the internet http://www.dynoshop.com and then ask them if they will manipulate the dyno numbers for their customers!

Dont get too cocky. In exactly one year from now, if you can make the exact same bet, with the exact same car, (with the same engine in it), I will be impressed. Until then, I will remain a skeptic.

How did you safely tune his car, to ensure it wasn't running dangerously lean/hot, etc, prior to getting it on a dyno?

Thanks!

HardHitter 07-13-2005 01:29 PM

Way to scrape the back on the way up that drive way lol.

Sounds great, what kind of BOV is that? Any dyno's yet?

devious12 07-13-2005 01:30 PM

And how aren't you mealting the hood with the turbo so close to it, I see the heat sheild but that's still awfully close to the hood, along with other parts that Jeff Ambrams mentioned a while back, such as the coolant overflow tank?

PS: dyno sheets, time slips, and how much PSI are you running this with.

Wideband with a very conservative street tune.We actually used the same program that dynoed at 287WHP in this car but I needed to add alot of fuel becasue it was lean with that program.

The fact is that the offer is on the table and if you or anybody else think they can take my $500 then come on down.

BTW, our test car has been driven for over 10,000 miles and you know what? It is still in one piece. Not too shabby.

The pictures are a little deciveing. We have a good distance from the hood. Our test car has alot of miles on it and nothing has melted. Another thing to take into consideration is that the fans move alot of the hot air away so it is not as concentrated as you might think. We are running 8 psi at the present time.We might be able to run more boost but we will wiat and see what happens at 8 psi with this new turbo.

Actually it was 'me'. That comment was to address a point, being, apart from data, people will speculate. (shrug). I've rarely seen a project like this simply pan out to 'I don't have a digital camera' or 'I haven't dyno'd' the car. I think you are making your case for answering those concerns - the photos are great...

Now...the dyno...:)

JeRKy 8 Owner 07-13-2005 02:27 PM

Alright...I'm somewhat satisfied now...after waiting over a month for this. At least there's proof that it's done.

Car sounded incredible in the first video. By the way...it's too bad the guy riding his bicycle on the street in the first video didn't fall off or something. You guys should have tried throwing rocks.

Oh and the parking lot scene, priceless.

neit_jnf 07-13-2005 02:59 PM

do you use ceramic coatings on the hot side of the turbo and exhaust components to help with the heat or just the heat shield and thermowrap?

SpeedForceRacing 07-13-2005 03:15 PM

Ceramic coating is an option.321SS is very good at keeping the heat in.The wrap helps out quite a bit too.We also supply some extra heat shielding for wrapping the oil metering pump,hoses,etc......

Awesome SFR. Can't wait to see what all the car can do.

As far as people thinking this and that about what you and your team has accomplished, the fact still remains that you all turboed a very difficult car to tune. You all FINISHED the kit. You all have DRIVEN, are DRIVING, and WILL DRIVE MORE miles in it. So what Greddy exists. It's a good kit. But you all took up a challenge to make a BETTER kit. Now go take someone's $500.

.... uh, can I get a discount for saying all that LOL.

Congrats Speed Force Racing!!! Definately looking at the kit.

To make a fair comparison between the two kits, you'd have to compare a GReddy kit with an additional $2000 invested, +/-.
;)

SpeedForceRacing 07-13-2005 03:32 PM

Some positive feedback. Cool! We think that their is a possbility of seeing some 350+ WHP RX-8 turbos real soon.

Moostafa29 07-13-2005 03:36 PM

Congrats SFR. Kit looks nice, and sounds pretty good from the vids. Lets see that dyno to shutout some of the negativity that seems to plague this forum.

You may not believe me, and a few of the other skeptics, but I really DO hope you (or somebody) becomes the FlyinMiata of the RX8 world. I hope RX8s can handle signifigant boost/power levels for years of reliable motoring. It would be wonderful if two years, and 50K miles from now, this guy's car is running like the day it left the assembly-line in terms of reliability and smoothness, etc.

Thus, don't take it personal when people ask for hard numbers and are not quick to jump on the bandwagon. There are a few asshats, yes, who simply want to flame anything which isn't their current favourite - but that goes on both sides (see the owner of this car's signature, for example).

I really do wish your product success in the marketplace, because after my car's warranty is expired, I may come looking for boost - and I would hope SOMEBODY's kit rises to the top.

Red Devil 07-13-2005 04:00 PM

Car sounded really good in the videos. Can't wait to see the dyno results, or any others where you guys do push closer to the 350whp mark.

Unless there's a discounted price somewhere it's more than a $2k difference. Actually $4500 more (EMS is a must). Greddy $3k (220-240hp) , SSR $7499 (287hp)

Videos show nothing (flyby on a street and accelerating in the parking lot) at least we know what the BOV sounds like.
1/4mi times and dynosheets are a must if you intend to really get buyers.

dmp 07-13-2005 04:05 PM

Excellent - point taken.

BlueRenesis82 07-13-2005 04:08 PM

It would be nice to have a kit that could make 300hp and not cost $7k. I hate to sound cheap after buying the car, but for an extra 7k on sticker I would have bought something a tad faster, like a used vette or something.
