Maybe there was a nut or washer or something hanging out on the inside of the air filter that went through the fins. I mean you can bash the turbo as much as you want, but the fins wouldn't just spontaneously disintegrate right? Looks like something went through it. Though perhaps a turbo component came loose and did the damage, but I don't know enough about the innards of a turbo to know what could do that.

Though i will get a better turbo this summer.
Do you guys know if you can blow out spark plugs cause of flooding issues?? cause i think that's what happen to mine. I had upgraded plugs too.
