I will be going to the shop after work to have the BNR's actuator adjusted. Should be fairly obvious if the the adjustments work

Hopefully the adjustments make a world of difference. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I'm hopeful it will make some form of a difference. I'm trying not to get my hopes up so I will not be disappointed. I will data log regardless. If the adjustments are fairly positive then I will put the car back on the dyno just to see the numbers before MM does his final tune on 12/17 with Surgeline.

But I was very pleased with the performance of it.
If it's been cut open , my guess is that a bigger spring has been fitted . And It was probably done by a previous owner as Bryan has never mentioned doing that kind of thing .

Doubt it. Without the boost controller, I was right at 6-7 psi on just the actuator.

which is 2psi higher than a stock greddy (with the fix#2 done)

I was going to post a picture of the actuator when I unistalled the turbo kit, but I will respect Bryan in this matter.

Well I will say this much, the actuator definitely has some work done to it. I will let Bryan elaborate more on it!

The concept has been discussed at some length before BTW and I do know a guy here in NZ who has had this mod done done by a very experienced turbo builder .
That turbo has still not been fitted so don't know the outcome but I will say that my experimentation with a helper spring (attached to the side of the actuator)achieved similar results to what you got .

The plot thickens! LOL

I could imagine a bigger spring being a good way to solve this (to a degree). Still allows for complete movement, but at the same time raises cracking pressure.

The adjusted actuator is holding boost. We did a few runs in 2nd and 3rd gear to 8k and 8.5k and it was holding. We think we saw 12-13 psi at 8k and 8.5k dropped just a tad under 10 psi. The boost controller turned off as well. Next up is some data logging

Yep! The actuator was adjusted about 1/2". I believe Marc said about 2 or 3 threads left.

I need to read up on how to use the AP so I can data log and post up the info. I want to see the data and not just rely on the gauges.

12-13 psi on just the gate..... errr, might want to think about loosening that up some.

Very cool to hear it is fixed; but I can see that ending badly LOL!!!!!

The shop said the same thing. They wanted to tune the BC but I requested they leave it alone until Jeff is done with his tune. We will probably back it down and then use the BC.

don't forget what we talked about . Just getting that boost is no garantee you are making the power you should be making .

Unless it feels like godzilla already ? In which case ignore everything i've said LOL

The car is definitely pulling harder. Boost comes on fast and seems to pull strong to 8k. Again I do not want to reply on feel or the gauges. I will log data and post it up so we can all see what is happening

if you want to test it against other cars and see where you are at before you go to the dyno check out this thread :

glad to hear its holding, pdxhak. definitely get some logs of your maf readings. if you have any of the logs left on the ap from when jeff dynotuned it, it'd be a good comparison.

The alternator went and the harness melted a bit on the way to work. Hopefully this did not cause any issues with the motor. The car had to be towed home because other systems in the car would not function.
