Thanks to everyone. See ticket for additional information (left is me and right is bastage) Notice the difference using slicks per 60' mark. Launch at 3500 rpm to prevent wheel hop and an easy 12s if I had a pair of slicks. Maybe next time. Next Saturday autocross and going to work in 3.5 hours from now to do a 15 hours shift. Got to get some sleep. Will post videos later.

Here are the videos although the 13:58 was not filmed. Sorry for the quality of videos taken by my 14 yo son with a digital camera. The first two videos clearly shows the advantage of having slicks (bastage’s RX8) and the third video was my last pass of the night against a upgraded 2nd gen RX7. (torque vs whp). Overall a very nice day that started with a 3.5 hours drive from home to Pettit Racing, then to Moroso, a total of 10 passes and another 3.5 hours drive back home. Not a single problem throughout the whole day. To sum it all; 330 reliable whp and 13:58 ¼ mile on street tires. Life is good.

Congradulations on the 13's! Bastage, whats in the bag in the trunk? N2O? A new Pettit pulley kit? Angel dust and magic powder? A mysterious green substance?
I finally got to drive last nite for the first time in weeks, and got a wierd noise at around 6000 rpm in third (07 6spd at). It felt like it hit fuel cut, lost power and the engine light came on. After a few seconds, power returned to normal and the CEL went out. I pulled off the freeway to check under the hood, and found oil coming out the KN filter. RX8club to the rescue again! I need a catch can!
I searched and found good picture of catch cans, but I can't figure out where the hoses hook up. Can you guys steer me to some links w/pictures of catch can hookup on an SC'd 8?
Hey OD, are you running a catch can, or just venting the crankcase?
Thanx

advantage of having slicks (bastage’s RX8)
You guys should've traded the rear wheels for a run!
After seeing how Bastage pulled away initially, I'm convinced you could get atleast high 12's with his shoes.

Look for the hose that comes out in front of the oil filler neck; and trace it back to the nipple on the intake... the catch can intecepts this line; so it goes oil filler neck nipple -> catch can -> intake nipple.
That is all there is too it.

Thanks Kane. Moon, I got a p0420 "cat failure" CEL at around 1500 miles, after running pretty hard for a few minutes. I had auto zone clear it , and it has not come back. I'm around 2600 miles now. I wondered if this might be because Protek had blown thru the exhaust and temporarily contaminated the cat. Did you guys jack up the OMP delivery when you did the tune? Could this cause a p0420? I'm guessing you also set the tune on the rich side, and if so would this throw a CEL? Could the cat really be dead at 2600 miles? How do I check it?

Just by taking a quick glance at bastage it will pretty much narrow it down to “angel dust”. However, he told me that he already reached the last step on the twelve step program a while back. By look at the grin on his face (while stashing the bag in his car trunk) I will predict a healthy dose of whp for the next dyno run.

Just for comparo
Dug up some numbers from Car & Driver July 2006 PTP Turbo test drive:
The silver prototype PTP brought for us to test was just howling with power — 390 horsepower at 7400 rpm and 290 pound-feet of torque at 5100 rpm, according to our calculations with PTP's chassis dyno data.
Dancing a fine line between keeping boost up and wheelspin down, we blasted to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.5 at 109 mph.
Therefore we can conclude, Juan's 8 is keeping up very well with the biggest turbos around and their extra torque isn't making much difference.
And yes, the test car was running water injection.

I’m currently looking for a pair of OEM wheels 17 or 18-inch (they don’t have to be in great condition since is only going to be use for the track) to mount a pair of street slicks. Please pm if you know of someone with a set of OEM wheels in central Florida.
Also, any recommendations on street slicks (brand, size) will also be appreciated. Keep in mind that they have to be 17 or 18-inch diameter and be able to fit the rear wheel well since I have coilovers and my car sits a bit low. (I’m not planning to change my car’s current coilover settings). That is why I did not run bastage’s slicks last Friday. They were a little too wide for my setting and I did not wanted to deal with rubbing issues.
I’m sure after installing bastage new little bag of tricks and a good set of slick we both are going to hit the 12 second ¼ mile mark.

Not sure what you mean by street slicks, but the Dunlop star specs have been getting great reviews by guys who track their cars, and it is marketed as a street tire.

Moon, or anyone else who may have some insight on this, is Pettit ever going to pair a new 6 rib idler and blower pulley to the new e-shaft pulley?
The fitment is a bitch for those of us who work on our cars at home. In fact, it would be much nicer if Pettit made a smaller diameter blower pulley instead.
