I found a dude that ran the tire you have during a track w/e. He was running a newly purchased car that had them on. It was a BMW.
He said it had a good grip, fair life for a 140 tire. He said after about 2 laps they will get hot and the turn in and the slip angle will all change making it a difficult tire to figure out. IIt does give a good audible warning.
He was wearing these out so he could get the tires he wanted.
IMHO a better tire for what you want to do is the Nitto nt01's or the Toyo R888/R1's and dont shave them.
For the power we have and therefore the speeds you are going to get to I also would advise a bigger rim--8.5--9.5 with a 255/265 size tire and the shortest sidewall you can find.
That would be the best starter package for want you want to do that I can think off.
The HP pads are ok but later on you will want a better pad.
Welcome to the addiction dude!! Nothing else like it.

It is raining here in Central Florida so I decided to make more mods to my SC w/a intercooler system.
I (a while back) changed the original small plastic reservoir bottle with a lager one and coated the plastic tank with roof tar coating. I also inserted a tube from the L shape elbow return line into the bottle to prevent air bubbles/foam from forming inside the tank. I also ran my return hose along the firewall and right fender/engine bay to keep it away from top of the engine and alternator. It gets real hot around that area thus transferring heat to the intercooler return hose. I also added a pipe foam insulation piece over the return intercooler hose line.
Today I added some self-adhesive heat reflector material to the plastic reservoir tank and added a pipe foam insulation to the intercooler return hose line that runs along the firewall and right fender/engine bay.
BTW I used the same self-adhesive heat reflector material to cover the bottom and sides on the blower along with a piece of heat reflector padding under the blower a while back in order to prolong the cooling effect of the 50% water/methanol sprayed into the blower.
Just to remind you that I use VP M-5 methanol (methanol blended with a bit of nitromethane according to VP) mixed with distilled water. I spray 60ml nozzle before the blower and 100ml after the intercooler.
Enjoy the pixs.

Thanks for those pics, Juan, I'm right at this point right now. Two questions:
1) Where did you get the insulating material you used
2) What brand of engine damper is that, I need one dessperately

Just got back from another great weekend at Rotorstock in UK.
It was a great show with rotaries galore. Search online for some rotorstock 7 or rotorstock 2010 pics if you wanna see pics etc....
I went in for the Rotorstock sprint competition and repped the 8s well, with a win! Hurrah me!
Last run of the day got a 40.15. I was trying to be the only car into the 39s but just missed it! Next best was 40.59 from a 2 seat Lotus 7 style car with a Renesis engine in it!
Then a variety of Time Attack Fds, A Lotus Elise(?) with a 2 litre 20v turbo engine transplant, etc... The NA 8s did well too, which shows how awesome our cars handle!
Here is a small vid of the run, showing my camp system well, but not so good of the track, as my camera had slipped in the previous run!

hehe... it was a tight one. Probably a load of room for improvement but I only got 4 goes, and the first go was me getting totally lost on the course, which was surprisingly frequent for a lot of people!
Here is a good pic, courtesy of Neil Carter who took some lovely shots.... (this one I guess under heavy braking...I didn't go mad with the coilover settings!)

Try launching at 2500 rpm next time to prevent wheel hop.
Wait till the car starts rolling/weight transfer to the rear and then floor it.

Good driving dude--driver means a whole lot in the outcome no matter what car it is.
Juan-- you always do neat work man. Always.
I have approached it in a little different manner. You know I have the moroso tank? i have panted it with the wrinkle black and have added a ridgid black foam insulation on the air cleaner side only.
I have added a larger coolant pump mounted in the space between the oil cooler and radiator.
I also have added a 21x10 inch open finned cooler from Summit and retired the twin coolers and all those hoses. The new cooler has 2 hose connectors that almost mate up with the new pump. Ended up being very neat and tidy. It really did not help low speed temps much(no worse) but hwy temps were affected. They dropped maybe 5 degrees? I usually stay about 25 degrees above ambient during regular driving and with the a/c on.
I also have found a way of getting gobs of fresh air to the air filter area. I opened up some of the little diamonds in the grill and then cut some of my front bumper support so that it formed a slope -channeling air directly to the intake hole. I then took the oem outside air temp sensor and placed it near the ignition coils so I could measure how it was doing.
Damn --it worked! On a 90degree day that sensor records temps og 96-98 on the hwy and 102 or so in stop and go city driving. I am ok with that.
I need to do some pics but my son has his own place now and I........

My MSD coils sit right behind the radiator fans just under the air filter (well is really a filter screen with a filter sock over it) insulated box that I fabricated a while back. Therefore, constant airflow no matter if on the hwy or traffic since my fans turn on at 180F.
I'll recommend luring your son home and hold him hostage until pictures are taken and posted on the forum. SERIOUSLY

I was asked today about my injectors configuration using the bigger pulley. I went back about 1 million pages and found an older post with my formula.
"Anyway, I have two 2004-2008 reds for the P1 position, two 2009 greens for the P2 position and two 2009 browns for the Auxiliary Port position. You can change the four 2004-2008 yellow injectors for four 2009 green injectors while keeping the current flash or add the bigger pulley along with the combination mentioned above and still keeping the same flash while adding 35+ whp."

Because the 09+ injectors deliver a better fuel spray/atomization pattern.

They are only 10 cc bigger than the 04-08 injectors. From 380cc to 390cc for a total of 40 cc if you change all four. It will not affect your current flash. It is all about an improved fuel spray pattern thanks to mazda engineering.

Use 4 ea to replace the 2004-08 Yellow P2 and Aux Port injectors if you are running the stock Pettit SC Pulley.
2009+ P2 Injector (Brown) mazda part number N3R2-13-250 $153 each
Use two of this to replace the 2004-08 Yellow Aux Port injectors (outside left and right of the upper fuel rail) if you are running the bigger pulley along with the injectors above (Green) to replace the Yellow 2004-08 P2 injectors (inside pair of the upper fuel rail).
