ok guys the SC is in and the car is running, but I'm hearing so many noises from the SC and its breaking up after 5k rpms. Let me explain:

1st The belt. I didnt have the tensioner pulley spacer originally with my kit. Cam Jr. sent it to me. It seems the tensioner pulley sits about 2mm out further towards the front bumper than the SC pulley. So when the car is running it moves the belt one notch forward. Here is a pic to illustrate this.

2nd Noises:

The SC was making clacking noises when going above 5k rpm anything above 25% load as if the car was breaking up. After about the 3rd time I pulled over because the SC sounded louder. I saw gear oil spilled next to the breather filter routed from the SC. I cleaned it up and routed the hose to a oil catch can. Then I put more oil in the SC, but now it sounds louder than before the incident. here are some vids.

BTW I thought the noise I heard above 5k was because the belt was loose. I had to change the SC main pulley seal because it was leaking when I 1st ran the car. Now it doesnt leak. but when I originally reinstalled the SC/tensioner pulley with the new seal I couldn't get the belt tight enough and I only used a ratchet to tighten the SC main pulley. Today I used a impact gun to put the main SC pulley back with a max torque of 124 ft-ibs. and I finally got the tensioner pulley nice and tight with only 25/35% twist on the belt.

Video of the car idling right after I tightened the SC main pulley and tensioner pulley b4 doing any runs.

This 2nd video is how loud it sounds after the SC spitted out its oil and I refilled the oil.

This 3rd video is of a run and you hear that loud clacking noise at 5k rpms.

in my humble uneducated opinion ... the belt being further out is putting a lot of stress on the input shaft.... it sounds TO ME like a bearing has gone to ****....

first and foremost i would quit running it and remove the belt and turn by hand paying attention to how it feels *(bad bearing will feel rough and notchy as you turn it..)

second i would figure out a new spacer to get the belt to run true in the proper notch on the pulley...

i could be wrong...

huh, the first vid sounds very normal, and I see what you're saying about the louder clanking in the second vid,,, Ive never experienced that before so I don't know what to say,,,
-Can you still make power during the noise or does the car back off

I agree with this, whether it ends up being the source of the problem or not, you should still follow though with these suggestions

Stop running the car. Take it apart until you figure out the issue.

Ok so this sucks *****. What would make the SC spit out its oil?

moon as far as taking it apart: do u mean taking the SC out of the car and separating the main 3 pieces that make it up?

Paco can the bearing be replaced? And what bearing would it be?

Moon sell me your compressor lol

Greg dude my stress level is through the roof, but I am going to go head and move forward with these suggestions.

i honestly don't know... pettit would be the one to question about if the bearings can be replaced... the number should be available from him... if not the number will be somewhere on it.... *(stamped into the inner race normally on a roller bearing...)

whatever you do don't run it again without checking it out....

it will not fix itself no matter what you do... all you can do is not make it worse...

i really hope its cheap and easy for you to repair...

Thanks for the input guys. I will put together a email for cam. Quick question is the bearing the small aluminum piece the pulley is attached to?

I work quick...

Pic of the bearing:

video of me spinning it:

And when have the pulley completely flat on the bearing it spins good. So maybe it is the belt pulling it down in an angle.

see the grooves in the aluminum spacer
that means that it is or once was on backward
tapered side goes inside the SC...flat side pointed out
and yes it does FEEL like it fits better the opposite but, that's just because it kind of sticks

double check the front seal and inspect the SC shaft closely

Are you talking about the Tensioner pulley or SC pulley?

Thread the bolt in without the pully on and see if it has play. That's just the shaft spacer, you need a new one of those by the way.

yep what moon referred to as the shaft spacer
it's on correct now but, running it backward at some time is what made the grooves

Thanks so much. So that spacer doesn't come off the pulley when I try and separate the two. IDK why, I'm trying to pull it off the pulley, but it won't budge.

So I need a new shaft spacer. ok. Now if I put the bolt in the SC with out the spacer/pulley and torque it in with the impact gun; I'm looking for play with the bolt? And if it does; then that means?

No no, not with the inpackt, just get it snug. There's 4 ball bearing in the blower. The one with the pully gets the most load. Your checking to see if its trashed.

Spin it slow and pay attention to the feel and sounds it makes. It should be smooth.

OK I will give it a shot tomorrow. Just got home. I park the car at my fathers BC its safer over there lol.

BTW if its not smooth and makes noise, does that mean I'm screwed and the SC is no good?
