Point of no return for FI?

You guys make it sound like you only get a few days of enjoyment with your FI setup before you are pulling the motor. That is simply not the case.
With a solid tune, responsible driving and good maintenance, a properly turbo'ed/supercharged Renesis can last for 30,000+ miles. The truth is we've have solid engine management (Cobb AP) for how long now? Once the Cobb is out there for more years, the tuning is perfected, I'm confident we can see higher mileage FI Renny's.
Will an NA Renesis outlast an FI Renesis? More than likely. But I lost a motor NA due to no fault of my own at 46,000 miles so I'd rather enjoy those miles buy producing double the factory power output instead of worrying

I think people misunderstand the difference between "increased chance" and "assured chance" of engine failure.
Going FI increases your chance of an engine failure because there are things you can do wrong that will cause this. Going FI in no way assures you of a greater chance of engine failure then staying NA.

All valid points guys.
FI crushes piston engines in terms of mechanical error pretty quick. But come on. We have no valves to float, no rods to warp, and no pistons to melt. It all depends on the tune and how much effort you're willing to take care of your ride.
When was the last time anyone checked the fluid levels in their batteries hmm? Car maintenance goes beyond checking your oil and tire pressure once a week. This I think is the main reason the RX8 has an unreliable reputation. Not many people are willing to put forth the effort to maintain their cars while naturally aspirated, and even fewer do it right when force fed.

BTW I couldn't find the leak. I snipped my questionable vacuum hose at the crack and zip-tied it on tight. After a quick wash I drove around to see if there was any change. Only stayed on primary ports but still drives like a champ. Bogus CEL. Now I'm going to kick back and enjoy the rest of my 20th bday =p
