Proper sealant for fuel line and nitrous

Hi,

This spring I am going to install a Zex Nitrous kit on my 06 RX-8. At the same time I will install a fuel and a nitrous pressure gauges.

I will use the Aeromitive #15120 to tap the fuel line. This part has two outlets, one 1/8 NPT and one 6 AN. I will use the 1/8 NPT for the fuel pressure sensor and the 6 AN for the fuel supply to the Zex controller using a 6 AN to 4 AN flare reducer. For the nitrous pressure sensor, I will connect it to the free additional 1/8 NPT outlet of the nitrous purge adapter.

So, I will be dealing with these different type of fitting for fuel and nitrous:
- 4 AN standard 37 deg. flare
- 6 AN O-Ring boss (for the Aeromotive 15120 and the 6 AN to 4 AN adaptor)
- 1/8 NPT

So my question is what kind of thread sealant should I use for each type ?

From what I have read, the ‘AN’ type doesn’t requires any sealant at all.
For the 6 AN, I am planning to use a , Buna-N o-ring, but I don’t know the required size.
And for the 1/8 NPT, should I use standard loctite (blue or red) or some more exotic stuff like Permatex form a gasket no.3 ?

Any advice would be much appreciate

for NPT threads and up to E20 ethanol

if you might use E85 fuel then this one, only problem is 1/4 pint is smallest size and probably a lifetime supply if it doesn’t go bad first:

there are a lot of liquid teflon products out there, but whether they’re ethanol resistant might be in question

good luck

had a hard time finding the -6 AN ORB x -4 AN Male adapter, doesn’t seem to be very common

I already have all the required parts and Me too I had a hard time finding it :-)
Here a picture of the 6AN ORB to 4AN adapter with the Aeromotive fuel line adapter and the fuel pressure sensor connected to it.

I have also an assortment of SAE Buna-N O-Ring but I still need to find out the right size to use for the connection between the 6AN adapter and the Aeromotive adapter.

Thank you TeamRX8. Whenever I can, I tried to avoid fuel with ethanol. In my city some Shell station advertises ethanol free V-Power gas.
For the thread sealants, do I have to use the same stuff for the nitrous fitting as for the fuel line fitting ?

Also, I should have posted a picture of all the parts for reference in my first post, but there it is.

it would be best to confirm with the manufacturer in case there’s a warranty issue etc.

the ORB fitting should have come with an O-ring, or at least mine always have
