Is it really worth it?
Ok so I just want to see a few peoples opinion.
Is it really worth spending 7000 usd for the extra hp on a daily driver. For me 7k is a lot of money

yeah either a turbo or a super, it doesnt matter at this point.
I just want to know if people who are on a limited budget and use their rx for a daily driver think it was worth the money

Yeah, I'm still on the fence as well and it's not really a money issue. I'm concerned with less engine reliability (added heat does take its toll over time), poorer gas mileage (I guess that is a money issue), and most of all maintenance. We're not as blessed here as other regions with good rotary mechanics.
And I''ve got another year of b-to-b warranty left.
But it is so tempting ....

Oh thanks...that helps! As if I don't get enough from Bastage already. With a wee bit of Juan thrown in!

Believe it or not, I have been known to have objective opinions on all this stuff (despite the drama surrounding the various options) so feel free to PM me and I will share what I know about the various power-adder options. I really have no agenda and some people are surprised by my opinions after they talk to me.

It totally transforms the car...makes it a zillion times more fun to drive.
You can get a complete turbo kit used for <$3k.
The downside is that you'll almost certainly blow at least one engine. You can get a used Renesis with low miles from a junkyard for around $2k. If you can remove/replace the engine yourself, then that's your financial exposure.
So, that's $5k with the new engine you'll need at some point; more if you need to pay a shop to change the engine.

Care to elaborate more on this...with the AP being out and MM tunes I believe it has opened up more people to go FI. I believe it becomes down to if you are willing to void the 100k warranty from Mazda!

BTW, I went through 3 engines.
With the Accessport & MM turbo upgrade, the risk seems lower. However, putting an aftermarket turbo on a high compression rotary engine (Renesis) with a track record for blowing engines is still a risk versus keeping it NA.
...I plan on getting another one of these monsters & FI-ing it when I have the spare $$$ to accomodate the risk.

Indeed, and thanks to your insight Charles I generally lean one way whilst doing my mental gymnastics.....

I think the whole issue of the Renesis being prone to "blowing up" or otherwise being fragile needs to be revisited and for two reasons;
1) I ran my own engine at WOT and 9,000 RPMs for 15 MINUTES STRAIGHT while stuck in the snow back in MI. The engine was smoking and hot as Hell by the time I got it on the pavement but it is running fine.
2) I just had a phone conversation with one of the remaining forum vendors whom I still hold in high regard and we both agree that, when the Renesis is built and tuned properly, it is a damned nice engine.

Question...............is that because there aren't many forum vendors left, or not that many that you hold high regard for????? Don't answer that Ray, just thought it was funny when I read it!

It is because the deeper I get involved in the entire automotive aftermarket industry the more I am disappointed by that which I see. I have one forum vendor I still hail as a "hero" vendor. The rest........ well..........

Thats something you need to answer. Since everybody's answer would be different.
Let me ask you, Is Ferrari worth it?
- Some will say YES OF COURSE, THATS SOME 1337 **** y0 mad h0t s0n I pwn anybody with that be s0me 2f2f y0 !
- Some will say HELL NO! its just another car with 4 wheels and you use it for going from Point A to point B, fuxk that 300K price tag.
if u want my answer, I'll tell ya that if 7 K is a lot of money to you, then its not worth it. Cuz it seems like you're having a hard time paying for your own expenses already, So there is no point to add anymore financial stress.
