renesis porting update

:D

well, the other thread is just getting too long, so here we go again.

as god is my witness--one bump and snoochies car once again came to life!!! ONE BUMP!!!!!!! smoked for about a minute and a half, then cleaned right up. the idle has a little bit of a chug to it now--which i can't really explain, since we kept the zero overlap, but we'll see if it cleans up.

anyhoo, i'm gonna go test drive it and try to get some miles on it before i give it back to the snooch-man.

expect dry dyno results within the week, and cat removal + canzoomer dyno results within 2 weeks.

did perfectly on the maiden voyage...and i just stuck a new oil filter on. i'll change the oil tomorrow after i get some more miles on it.

so it'll pretty much be ready for you anytime after noon tomorrow, but i'd really like to keep it an extra day if i could. since there was welding involved, i wanna make sure it's not gonna go boom right away.

Did ya wanna drive it down to me 2marow night and then I'll drive you home. That'd put an extra 100 miles on it easy. I'm talking like 10 or 11 at night so you can cruise around picking up chicks 2marow. Just don't do anything funny in my car. :D

yea, that'll work. 60 miles on it now and i'm still babying it.
i'll take a big freeway cruise tonight and see if i can't get a couple hundred miles on it before tomorrow.

it's doing great so far.

It's more of a tap...just enough to get the BOO to trip the tails.

Doesn't Fred Astaire have a tap dancing class nearby?

Is this the "mecca Porting" or did you just do a little more to the existing? Any pics of changes?

i posted the pics in the last thread.
it's not the mecca-port in the exhaust, but it is a bit larger than before.

240 miles on it now. there's a little bit of a hesitation around 43-4500ish rpm.... and it pops a tiny bit after i'm hard on the throttle and let off suddenly.

i think we seriously pissed off the MAF. but good theing we've got the canzoomer, so time to tune--which reminds me...my laptop was in my car when it got stolen, so anyone wanna come up and help with that?

to be honest, it doesn't feel much more powerful. i think it might be running uber-rich.

so the numbers from the dry run probably won't be anything impressive, but th porting should facilitate a LOT more power with tuning. i just wanna get the dry-run out of the way first.

suspisions are now confirmed...

dyno showed afr's as low as 10.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i wouldn't even run a turbo car that rich!!
luckily, snoochie's got the cz, so as soon as we can get ahold of a laptop we'll tune it.

Why the hell does this car get richer with porting? Get that a/f back up into the mid 12's and you'll probably think you're driving a rocketship!

Wow. That's sick as hell.
That car prolly feels slower now than it ever did! Tune that thing up and yea, it'll prolly scream!

I cant wait to see the tuned results.

Just wondering what did it dyno at power-wise? I know it's probably nothing cause of the afr but just wondering.

ok, don't freak out, but it was like 130's. i SWEAR it doesn't feel like that though.

when i said it didn't feel much more powerful, i meant much more powerful than the first porting. it's built a LOT of power in the last 50 or so miles.

gimme a bit and i'll scan the dyno sheet and we'll discuss it. i'm now convinced all the 25-40 hp claims from porting alone are scetchy at best.

i couldn't overlay the dyno charts because they were on a different scale, but here it is.

if you look at the horsepower level at 50 mph, you'll see it's right about on target. compare that with the other dyno chart.

above that, the afr's go nutty.

also, right at 65 mph, we get a 30 hp jump!! notice how the afr leaned out just over a point there?

i don't think we'll have any problem building power once it's tuned. but we've stumbled upon the limitations of the stock computer system. it is what it is, and does NOT like being fucked with!!!
