Running InjectorDynamics in primary position
#4
Several people here have in the past. I don't have any OE cups at the moment that I know of to see if they fit. Gave my last set of primaries away several years ago to someone troubleshooting a problem.
Why are you asking?

I needed "new" quality injectors, they're the smallest ID size, they fit, they're only $120 each, and even the ID1300 is capable of flowing fuel properly at idle speed on the Renesis.
Maybe the #1 reason though is because I'm not you
I could have used ID725 in all positions, but since E85 fuel is my intention then my preference is to use the stainless steel pintle injectors in every position. However, they have the shorter connector position body style and can't fit in the iron injector cavity because of this. I also already had 2 new ID1300s so I bought another pair to match up all the secondary positions and then took my chances with the ID725 for primary with the non-stainless pintles.
Yes, my injectors aren't stressed, but how is that an issue as long as the pattern and flow isn't a problem at the minimum operating range?

So I rummaged through everything yesterday and have about every spare used or new nut, screw, sensor, gasket, etc that you can think of, but of course no primary injector cup seals. Usually pretty good about holding on to used misc parts for emergency spares, etc. but no-go. I happened to be running an errand near the local dealership and had no expectation of them having any in stock, but the parts fiche is showing three different versions/part numbers for the 6-port manual trans motor??? WTF ...

I may just bolt them in there and see how they fit. The seal is a bit bigger than the typical round O-ring. The RB primary plugs only had smallish O-rings, which worried me a bit because they really seem minimal in comparison and getting a vacuum leak there would be a real pita to deal with. I didn't have good confidence that they were sealing well, but then it may have been just personal anxiety as I never heard any complaints either ...

Slash used ID1000s, but not in primaries. You may need to make up with him before he answers your calls though. Check with his wife, not sure if he's a flowers or chocolates guy.
I use Bosch 1000s in primaries, but couldn't find a suitable latency table, so moved them to secondaries where they currently sit.
These Bosch units use 14mm circular 0-ring against the iron and look identical to ID1000s. I can confirm that the Bosch circular o-rings seal effectively. I've found that the effective seal is not around the outer radius of the o-ring against the inside of the bore, as this appeared to be quite a loose fit on my injectors. The effective seal is made where the seal is pressed against the bottom of the bore. I.e. as the fuel rail mounting bolts are tightened. You're probably aware, it's essential to use a bit of grease on the o-rings otherwise they will fail to seal every time.
You need to have very accurate latency tables to run 1000cc injectors in primaries as they use so little fuel at idle, so the latency table has significantly more impact on the AFRs than the scale does. I understand the ID1000 latency tables are pretty accurate, so you may be able to get a reasonable tune out of them in primary position. Good luck.

not sure what you're rambling on about, particularly wrt Slash, other than it all amounts to being completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. I know who ran them, they aren't around anymore that I'm aware of, but thought I'd ask in case there was someone else. I have the accurate tables for all the ID injectors, both for the OE ecu and Adaptronic. Thanks for dropping by just the same and stop by again; maybe you can learn something.

I don't need any apologies from Team, I just asked him to back up his answers with fact and not anecdote like he requires of everyone else
I didn't actually run the car with ID1000s in P1, but I did test fit them, with the cups IIRC. You could always just buy some of the cups, they aren't going to break the bank. I mean, I knew you're socially bankrupt but I didn't figure financially

Sorry, I have no recollection of any past issues between us other than the usual forum bickering. I don't ever harbor those kind of feelings much past the time when whatever disagreement may occur with someone else.
The cup seals are only $8 each from the stealer, so no big deal, but I lost my OEM parts privileges from Mazda Motorsports until I can get my car back together and submit race results (one result required annually). So the issue is that it's not convenient.
I was only asking anyway. As soon as I can get to the car in the next several days, pull the fuel rails and primary plugs, and test fit the IDs then I'll know for myself. Only been out of the hospital a week since the surgery/recovery for a ruptured appendix, but almost back to normal now.
I'll be sure to share what I find then for documenting it here as future reference.

So much so that it decided to give my abdomen cavity some too; for about 8 days until somebody decided to send me for a CT scan to try and figure out wth was going on. In the days before antibiotics some of your wishes would have come true, i.e. sh-t myself to death .... but then I'm not so snowflake-sensitive physically either ...

I didn't come back with that intention, but it seems like the people who previously complained the most maybe love it as much as they despise it. Nothing to contribute but pointed questions, pointless blah-blah-blah, and other lets poke at the sleeping tiger sundries. Can't blame them really because RX8Club is fairly dead otherwise ... hopefully I'll be fitting them within the next several days, can post up some facts, then move on and let the rest of you haggle it out among yourselves.
