My sec air injection pump has been out (i.e. removed from the car) for 6 months now with no problem. However, I am using interceptor-x with greddy turbo.

um yeah if you have a cel for an emissions control device or system you wont pass an emissions inspection. thats actually the point of the emissions related cels. your car tells the folks at the inspection station "my emissions reduction/control systems are not operating correctly" so you fail.

no CEL on at all... ...they actually have to hook the comp up to the cars obd II (which is how most countys in NC have to do their state inspection) to see that its not operating properlly. you get a list of systems that show up on the screen, and your car (2001 model year and up) has to pass all but one system check. They allow one incomplete system test. now if the 8 was a 2000, id be straight... like i said NC state inspections SUCK!

yes yes sorry for saying cel i new as soon as i posted that would be questioned . it doess not have to light a cel it just has to report the operational failure over the can bus to fail.

btaim- its the rules and thats why the car reports it. you should have known this before you T'd the car. Its not the law's fault that you failed the test.

buy the emu and use that while you're getting inspection - it doesn't push out any CELs.

or go without fuel management and don't go into boost.

Ive got the e-manage ultimate, cant have it hooked up while thier running the tests, the comp wont run past it (i know i said the same thing, "bs" right,,, well thats what they say) ive been driving for the last two weeks without even once pushing into boost. It's been driving me insane having to dirve like an old man... i just started this thread to see if anyone else has had this problem with the air pump, but it seems that noone has, and or if you do you dont know it cause you live in a decent state that dosent have such strict testing. if it were normal emissions testing the car would pass fine, but there going thru the pcm........

Seems like a basic question I'm about to pose, but since you haven't addressed this yet... Is the pump actually working or not? Do you hear it running?

BTW: They can hook-up to the OBDII port and run the emissions test with the EMU installed. Whoever told you that is full of it.

yes emissions - thats what its for. it injects air into the catalytic converter so that it can heat up faster to get to the proper operating temp.
