You're going to have to do something about the oil pan, which is going to sit way too low like mine did.

dznutzuk: I know. I'm mounting the engine a litle bit higher. if some problems do arise I will see to it then. Really want to get this car going.

9krpmrx8: No problem. I'm not using the cold start valve. So i have some clearance there.

arghx7: Thanks! And yes I do know about the toothed plate for the RX8 CAS. Made a bracket for the pickup.

Getting there......
Motor should go in today. I'm just very busy at the moment, so time to work on the RX8 is limited.

Thinking of fitting a water to air charge cooler. I'm not in the mood for battling with the boost piping like dznutzuk did.

Much easier to route two 1/2" flexible pipes.

Started

Well. The motor is in. Gearbox, fuel lines, water, oil, remote oil filter bla bla bla.

Started it on friday and all seems ok. Just making a serious amount of noise because of no exhaust yet. Will try and complete the install and tidy up this week.

To no surprise the RX8 throttle works for the first 15 seconds and then just ignores any right foot input. So I will have to use the RX7 throttle assembly. This sucks! But I will not give up yet. All I have to do is figure out why it stops working

Must be some signal from one of the many RX8 intake solenoids or something.
This is what's connected so far.

Water temp
Oil press
Oil level
MAF
CAS (RX8)
Knock sensor
Altitude Sensor
Alternator
All on Gearbox
I have even connected the air blower motor. I will not give up. Next on my list is the Lambda's. Then I will move to the original intake wiring and start simulating the signals one by one until I find the culprit.
Some where something is causing the ECU to go into limp mode.

Will Update.......

congratulations on getting this far with it. if you got it to start at all, i'd say you're over the hump. sorting out the details on getting it to drive will likely be time-consuming, but just a matter of time.

Started Update

Well....
After battling with the Drive by wire, I opted to go for std RX7 TB. Could get the 8's throttle to work but only for the first 15 seconds. Then it just does nothing. Connected everything. Simulated everything. Nothing. But....
What I suspect is that the std ecu measures the load for the coils and injectors and because there is nothing connected it goes into limp.

I did not feel up to removing the intake manifold and fitting resistors to fool the std ecu.

So I made up a pedal and cable assembly and now my car drives.
Next is a new exhaust and dyno! I'm still using the std exhaust with no cat.

almost got me; that was from 2010 buddy and it’s 13 years later

and this thread should have been posted/moved to the Rotary Swap forum area.

this forum area is specifically for Series 1 Renesis Engine HP Upgrades. While a 13BRE Turbo engine is a high HP upgrade, it’s not a Renesis.

if you do this build please post/start your thread there:

https://www.rx8club.com/rotary-swaps-217/
.
