slash128's Top Mount Build

Yep, agreed and will be monitoring closely! But I have a feeling it was fine up to that last run. I could hear the bypass valve working previously and boost had been stable as well. But will be watching it

I run a bigger ic but positioned it up behind the crash bar so as to leave a space underneath for air to the rad . We have a smaller crash bar on JDM models though ....

What are your IC dimensions? The PTP core is 18x9.25x3.5" and I didn't have much room to move it up any for more airflow. The new one I got is 21x7x2.5" core and it will be up about an inch higher so I should have an extra 3" more for airflow at the bottom.

That's a big core! I updated my previous post with my core sizes. Core size wise my new on is a bit wider, the PTP has big end tanks. But the top couple of inches of the PTP also was blocked by the crash bar, like you mentioned. With the crash bar cut the full core will see more frontal surface area square inches, but less full surface area cubic inches due to the thinner core. But I'll get an additional 3" of airflow under the IC to the radiator. Running E50 I shouldn't need as much IC so hoping in all it will be a net improvement.

Sounds good .....so long as the core will flow enough so as not to cause a pressure drop .

Agreed and I should be able to tell pretty quick. The main goal was to see if the smaller IC would improve coolant temps. If not, and I'm getting boost pressure drop, then I can always go back to the PTP IC. And I'll have more airflow either way now that the crash bar is cut.

The IC size and end tanks look good, though you've got that tricky 180* bend to deal with. I've got the "smile with braces" silver grill look on my car also, and the jury is still out on that. In case you're thinking about painting it, check out this clip by these turkeys:
...and they've also converted a Mini to run a supercharger with E85 with flex fuel sensor, etc. so some quite good info on that too, if you can stand the Ozzy acksint.

Augh!!! So everything has been going great. Tonight I went to put the UIM back on and this bolt snapped. It didn't even take much!!! I can't get a grip on it from under the car Any suggestions other than dropping the motor?
