No worries there, I'm not a gambler, well maybe with engines lol. I was here a couple weeks ago and put $2 ina slot machine, walked away with $30 and didn't gamble again.
Yep it's a standard thread. But it will take some work to get it off. For both Renesis motors I've torn down I torched the main bolt until red and then I used the Mazdatrix flywheel stopper and two 3/4" pipes, about 5 feet long each. One I put between the flywheel and motor and the other I used as an extension for the socket on the main bolt. Then I had an assistant help me hold the rear pipe while I used the front pipe to wrench off the main bolt.
As a side note RX7 main bolts are easier to get off. Just torch until red and then use a 1000ft/lb air gun and it comes right off.
I brought it to work and torched it with the cutter for a few mins. Then used the shop gun and it came out.
Scored a badge from the car hacking village. Supports 2 CAN channels and can be used to intercept and manipulate CAN packets and a bunch of other stuff. Dannobre, let me know if you want to meet up and I'll bring it.
It's a two channel CAN bus gateway. At the rear end of the car circuit board there is an ODB2 plug to connect to the car. There is a micro USB port to connect to a computer. Then you can tx/rx CAN messages, manipulate them, etc. it's been an interest of mine for awhile. I'm very green with all this but sat in on lots of good talks today and picked up this book. I'd like to figure out how to create some software to use the Tactrix device to flash calibrations from ATR as a (relatively) simple starter project. I figured I'd stop blowing up engines and start bricking ECU's instead
Yeah, I'm not going to even suggest I'll figure it out. It's just something that intrigues me so I tinker. I will say it is far less greasy and physically strenuous
A couple fairly easy things to do are simulate the ecu including OBD2 DTCs and running the dash. Also might be easy to get the electronic power steering to initialize without the ecu.
Ive played with it a little, but I have bigger fish to fry right now.
PM'ed. I'll reiterate, just to be clear, I am under no delusion that I'll ever get anywhere with this, just that it interests me and I enjoy this type of stuff
