Actually just an FYI since a few people have asked there are several reasons we're rewiring the car
1. Reliability - not just soldering and splicing but, actually rewiring with appropriate technique and wire gauge. It will simplify the wiring harness and make it easier to work on
2. Weight - not only lowering the overall weight but also balancing the weight distribution.
3. Ease of access - cleans up the engine bay which will make the car less difficult to work on and provide more room for the cage. This will also make things easier if I ever decide to go to a stand-alone ECU or engine swap

Which one will you be racing? Which class are you targeting for the tube frame car? There is a tube frame carbed 12A RX-7 that runs TT2-TT3 in NASA NE... it is holy **** loud and weighs like 1700 lbs.

Not to derail the thread but, this build is taking too long sooooo...
I pulled the trigger on a thunder roadster to get me by
The 8 build is still going strong but, I need a car to hold me over
The Fiat is fun but, NOT a track car

Honestly the Fiat was a hoot on track.
A little body roll and understeer that can be combatted with throttle steer. Braking is phenomenal...50ft mark going into 10A and Road Atlanta. Squealing tires at every turn and being passed by everything in the advanced group. Still had a blast and enjoyed giving some challenging point-bys*
The brakes were not as good as they were at Road Atlanta. Plenty of pad just not as much bite. The tires were shot by the end of the event.
I finally couldn't help myself and went out in Novice with a student so I could at least say I got some passing in*
As far as lap times go I can't say for sure but, my friend that was at the event in an old GTI reported a time of 1:38 and I was all over him when I went out in his group but, he has been known to stretch the truth and I honestly don't feel like it was that fast*

So the supercharger and engine etc are spares? I just didn't understand why he was selling parts off the race car if he was still building it.
I'm very interested to see a TT2 RX-8. I run TT2 and it is a very competitive class in my region (Northeast) with multiple national champions and crazy cars. We have 10-12 TT2 cars in NE with 8-9 running at the season opener at NJMP Lightning last month. I managed a podium finish, but the 1st place 'Vette broke the track record by quite a bit.
I have not seen a RX-8 so far that could be competitive in that class, but it would be very cool to see one. slvr, do you have a target weight/tires etc?
My current setup is 3165 with driver/fuel (min comp weight of 3155) and 403 whp on 275 Hoosier A6s.

LOL 7 years later...
A LOT has changed...build still remains
Will have some pictures for you guys soon
Have only tracked it a handful of times in it's unfinished state but, it laid down some impressive times on street tires and no aero
Will be for sale in the near future. I have too many track toys at this point and the 8 doesn't really serve my needs any longer
