^^^^I feel ya man, but you still gotta find some time to go to a track. Gtechs will never be considered a substitute for track times.

Hey Lschiavo, you've got a good car with good power. Whether or not you car ran a 13.7 or a 14.5, that's still quick. The strip isn't a place for the 8 anyway. The track and touge is.

With that in mind, just go to the track and get a slip. Do your best and represent. Cause remember, every time ... EVERY TIME an 8 goes down the strip, everyone is watching and saying the 8 is slow. They are saying ALL OF OUR 8s ARE SLOW!!!!

I'm not saying your G-tech is inaccurate. I'm not saying you didn't run a 13.7. If I had to race against you I would prepare to race someone who can run 13.7. So go run a 13.5 and get ALL OF US closer to the 11 mark and shut up our competition.

If we were talking about one-off occurences you'd be right. But if one consistently ran a 15.2 before and then could consistently run a 13.7 afterwards, the gain is real. Does that mean that you'd run a 13.7 at the track? No. But it means you'd probably shave something close to 1.5s off what you would have ran otherwise.
This was my entire point. Luis' difference from non-turbo to turbo was 1.5 seconds. So "in theory" somebody should be able to shave 1.5 seconds off their track time with the same turbo setup.

Ike, get a life. Usually I have respect for your opinions because you try to balance out all the fanboism in this forum, but this time it's just too much.

You'd disbelieve anything RX-8 related, especially if it's faster than your precious WRX. And like it or not, but Luis' car is. He hasn't even taken the time to do any weight reduction yet. His bodykit alone probably weighs 150 lbs.

Why not just a "Way to go!" or "Congratulations!" for once? Would that really hurt your pride?

now, is that time slip from an rx8? Bottomline, i shaved 1.5 sec of my best time, i am happy with that.
Ike's timeslip is *supposedly* from a WRX. Who knows though, right Ike? You can't believe anything on the internet these days.

If someone does something good he just looks for the negative side of it.
It's ok I guess. Let him or anybody else talk. Sometimes critics devulge useful information. The catch is to figure out what's useful.

I agree with you on the g tech argument but that slip is total bs and you know it.......I'm sure that WRX's with those mods will achieve that time but it's not your slip.....lol :p

Funny, but Polak never ran a 14.3 nor 14.4, who has the selective memory?

Maz, I don't see what's so unbelieveable about it, but ok...

Especially in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd...it pulls very strongly starting around 3k RPM and all the way to redline.

Holy ****. Huge difference from stock...huge.

I had to be careful when I got into tighter traffic because I didn't want to WOT it and rear-end anyone by accident. :p

I don't know if he mentioned this before, but here's something interesting:
- he has the GT version in Canada LOADED, which is leather, moonroof, NAV, etc.
- he has the MazdaSpeed bodykit
- when I drove it, Luis and his girlfriend were in the car.

So I'm just guessing, but if he ran a 13.7 with all this extra weight (minus girlfriend), I wonder what the same turbo setup would do on a barebones RX-8 at sea-level? I hope I'm not just being optimistic in saying that he would be into the 12s.

Well done Luis! You definitely have yourself a "rocketship" there.
From your reaction, it seems like this car is a whole different animal. I've been waiting for the SFR dyno sheets to determine whether or not I'll buy it. On the other hand If there is a kit that could possibly get me in the low 13's possibly high 12's that would be perfect for me. :D Great feedback.
BTW I do have barebones RX-8.

YOu didn't claim that Polak ran a "mid-14" you claimed he ran a "14.3 or 14.4". Ike said that he never ran a 14.3 or 14.4 stock. Ike is right, Polak ran neither a 14.3 nor a 14.4 -- he ran a 14.58.

Time slip

IKE seriously, are you saying you don't remember talking about him posting his time slip??.....what amazes me is you speak like your word is god, yet also fail to produce any hard facts, just your expert opinion

like I said, I have only seen one mad time with the 8 at 15sec, every other time has been close to mis 14's.....currently reading the July R&T speed addition and they also have the 8 at 14.6

I thought you were actually ok until this thread, when you claim to not remember comments you POSTED......

guys like you are totally transparent, posting 1000's of posts on a site where you don't even own the car? Tell me who needs help? :o

Go back to your WRX club, and have fun.......dam I wish you were in town, I'd gladly run my stock 8 against you any time. Stock for stock of sourse :p

Anyhow, goodluck at the track Luis, wasn't trying to be a "hater". I just had some problems with the screwy math some people were doing, and I am not much of a fan of the G-tech as you can tell. G-techs can be fun, but one of the best baseline you'll get is from making a few passes at the track and then going back to the same track and comparing times after you do some mods. Plus it's a heck of a lot mpre fun going to the drag races, I love it :D

Luis,

[sarcasm - on] I hope you learn your lesson. Never ever post on the RX8 forum again!! No matter how good you car performs. There is alway pressure to go to the track so others can feel vindicated that their arm chair racing fantasies are fulfilled. It not like you have a life outside the RX8! [sarcasm - off]

BTW your Gtech results prove enough for me that the Greddy made some massive gains in power. Thanks for posting
