Someone started a thread about the STS turbo and I decided to email them. I asked them in the email if they were planning to make a STS Turbo for the RX8 and they replied via email. Check it out...

Oh yeah, I suggest other members email them too showing interest and post their reply here. Let's go out and make sure we let them know we are interested.

Note: Mention, like I did, that keeping the price under $4,000 would make us STS customers.

Sent my reply in, stressing the need for a 'modest' boost to augment the torque, and mentioning the HUGE space left when you remove the stock muffler......

If you look at the way that thing is put together, the '8 seems to be the IDEAL car to showcase it!

It's the stupidest idea ever, but I really hope it works:D

Why is the idea stupid? If it works...and is better than a standard Turbo, then I think it's a great idea?

by the time the exhaust gets to the rear of the car it's lost all its heat and velocity.

then on top of that, it still has to pump the intake through 15 feet of pipe... definately not my first choice (or even a consideration).

That's what I thought too, but it seems that they are getting high HP gains from that setup, so they say. I thought if it can get 100HP out of the RX8 and cost under $4000...it would be a good deal.

Intercoolers have long lengths of piping too.

This one has an 8-12 foot intercooler with no bends, so technically it could be faster. (The pipe is the intercooler)

They use a velocity increaser that squeezes the air as it enters the turbo, it looks like this >< roughly, they say in order to get 5 PSI on the boost side you have to have 10 psi on the exhaust side, and the system is able to achieve that at 2-3000 rpm on the current cars. The Small Honda I think hits around 3800 rpms.

The Rotary engine would be even better for this because of its high revs, and decent flow rates, we should see Turbo spool at around 3-3300 rpm, just by guessing.

They responded to my email saying that they have a custom universal kit that is more expensive, but they should be able to fit it on my car.

Tell me, I think I know the answer, you can't just add a Turbo/SC right. It needs to be managed somehow...right?

So, does their kit come with a ECU?

I recevied an email from them again today, just said thanks type of stuff, but a RX8 with 350HP is my goal...one day, and the STS looks like a good and relatively...fair priced turbo.

We will see....send them more emails guys...so they get the picture!

They will have a two hour show, they will Dyno the Car before putting the turbo on, then "Bolt ON" the turbo, and Dyno the LS1 Camaro again.

It will be interesting to see the installation, and results of the Dyno. Especially for those that are not exactly believers in this product.

I was very skeptical of this at first but after reading through it and reviewing the physics of the idea it would seem to be an idea worth exploring for our car. First, If you looking for a safe, reliable bump in power and aren’t aiming for a dyno queen 8, this is offering about the same level of performance as the Greddy kit with a much easier install and a similar price. Second, it might be the only turbo kit you could actually remove before dealer trips if you wanted to install it while the car was under warranty. Sure you could do the same for a supercharger, but that I would think would still be more work.

So there is a “universal kit” for this? I’m going to have to contact these guys and see whats involved. We have the room down under the car, I guess you’d use a CZ or emanage to run the thing. A interesting idea, not right for everyone, but could be an alternative for some.

befor there was nothing really...now there are sooo many forced induction kits...and sooo few dollars to get them LOL

I think the thing to watch out for is their Integra kit. The Type R is another high reving engine. On their proto kit, they claim a 13.1 1/4 mile and not running it that hard. It is their first "low torque" high RPM design. It should be a good litmus test.

They sent me an email indicating that they have a Custom kit available, that would cost a little more, but that their tuners would be able to make it work with the RX8.

You might explore that option, maybe if you called and asked to be a beta tester for it.
